The KJV Quiz thread that Rob posted awhile back has led me down several different trails that ended up at the following interesting (to me) and useful (to many) resource:

The KJV Parallel Bible displays the "very minor differences" (words of Mark Ward) between two major Greek texts, Textus Receptus and Critical Text.

From the website:

The specific version of the Textus Receptus used by [the KJV Parallel Bible] is Scrivener’s TR, an edition of the TR F.H.A. Scrivener made in 1894 to demonstrate the textual critical choices made by the KJV translators. There are many other editions of the TR, all with minor differences between them. Scrivener’s was the one used for this site.

The specific version of the critical text used by [the KJV Parallel Bible] is the Nestle-Aland 28, the edition of the CT used by basically all major modern English Bible translations except the NKJV (which uses the same Greek text as the KJV).

The Textus Receptus, the Greek text underlying the KJV, and…
The Critical Text, the Greek text underlying most modern Bible translations.

Interpreting the Evidence
Ward:

I expect you to understand that the vast majority of differences between English translations of the NT are not due to textual differences in the Greek. I expect you to look at the chapters on this site and be surprised, as I was, to see how few and insignificant the differences between NT manuscripts are.

I would want you to understand that the most important reason for differences in Bible versions is due to the differences in the Greek texts from which they are translated. Of course, where translational philosophy differs, there will be additional variations in the translations, even if they come from the same Greek texts.

It struck me that certain KJVO and non-KJVO folks were able to cooperate and produce this tool!

A head's up, btw -- this is still a work in progress. Every book has not been completed. If you have the right skill set, you might consider volunteering on the project.
