The main derived word from "splagchnon" is splanchnic - this refers to the viscera. Splanchnic nerves lead to the abdominal organs.

It seems that when we say "heart" we mean our emotional inner being - which was the bowels and kidneys for the ancients!

The NKJV seems to substitute "kardia" for "splagchnon."

And "pascha" does not mean "Easter".

This all shows something we've known for awhile-the English of the KJV is quite difficult for more than one reader of today. Not that it's incorrect for saying "bowels"-it's just that we don't use that word in that manner today. Sure, the KJVO can give examples of otherwise, but in general everyday use, we perceive bowel to mean the latter part of the large intestine.

And I wonder why none of the MVs said, "guts" or "intestinal fortitude"?

People wanting "old paths" had better watch what they ask for. Those old outhouse seats were very cold this time of year!!! [IMG]

Seriously, those that want "old paths" are just missing the good ol' days. They romanticize ancient Americana and believe that American values = old paths. They never go back far enough. They equate old paths with the post depression era.
The phrase is found in Jer. 6:16. And refers to ancient Israel.
No, I don't want to go back to ancient Israel. I love Calvary too much to go back to sacrificing my pets!
On the other hand, if we go back to the paths of 1610 we wouldn't have KJVOism. As for that matter even if we go to the post depression era we wouldn't have KJVOism. You see KJVOism is a new path that will lead to destruction. BEWARE

Granny, what year do you wish to seek the path you looketh for?
