I got baptized on the beach, or as I like to say, the world's largest baptistry. But being a resident of the OC, I've been to my fair share of beach weddings. [IMG]

As humanistic as the show is, I wouldn't think that would be the case... but then again, I still like it.

My wife and I just roll our eyes at certain episodes.

I do find it interesting that they talk about evolution and God in the same episodes sometimes.

I never could get into Star Trek, I thought the Star Wars universe was much better. Now we are way of topic.

While watching the last show of TNG where Q is zapping Picard through time, I gained a better understanding of the concept of time and eternity. For one brief second, I think I understood how both Predestination and free will co-exist.

BTW, is Anti-time in the series the same thing we call eternity?

Good observation about the Q thing. [IMG]

As for as anti-time, there was just one TNG episode where it was used as a plot device (part 1 of the series finale "All Good Things..."). The episode synopsis describes the anti-time reality as being created by the Q Continuum, so we can surmise that it wasn't considered by the writers to be a regularly occurring or predictable phenomenon, let alone a tangable enelogy for something like our concept of eternity. However, the most likely reason it's used in the show is, wel, because it was in the script [IMG]

Isn't Star Trek: Enterprise still running? I've only seen a hand full of episodes of it. Waiting for them to all come out on DVD.

The Series ended when season 4 concluded in June. Currently, there is no ST series in production.

There are very early talks about another movie, but the details are still up in the air. It's not even know which cast would be involved, or if a new cast and new storyline would be utilized. At best, a new movie is 4 years away.

No, they are repeats. I've seen all them on UPN here.

Ah, didn't know it had ended. I almost never got to watch it anyway. They broke the 7-season streak. :(

Put it on the heresy shelf...right next to the Message. [IMG] </font>[/QUOTE]I will allow the first quoted remark stand as a failed attempt at humor. However, the second does call for a observation or two.

This intellectual exercise falls far short of a case of heresy. I'd reserve that adjective for works like the Watchtower Society's New World Translation.

If the translators did anything near an honest competent job, then who knows how God will use and honor His Word. This may be the tool used in the salvation of some poor unsaved pagan Trekker.

I have only seen snippets of it, but it appears to be quite competent and faithful.
Interestingly, a survey done by one of the convention companies (I think it was Creation Entertainment, but not sure) revealed that the vast majority of trekkers are Christians, and the bulk of them identify themselves as evangelical. My wife and I most certainly qualify [IMG]

In my remarks I am taking you at your word as to the demographics of Trekdom. However, my sentiment still stands. I am positing there is a Providential reason for the translation beyond mere intellectual curiosity. Reaching a person otherwise unreachable is a pretty good reason to me.

The rumour that I have heard as to the new Star Trek movie, is that the federation will have been attacked and broken up, leaving only a few ships who band together to attempt to put the federation back together again.

I initially did like the new series of Star Trek Enterprise, yet I was bothered when their technology began to constantly usurp the orginal series of which it was supposed to be a prequel to.

There was an episode of Star Trek Voyager when Captain Janeway does a Mind Meld with Tuvok and she goes back in time in Tuvoks memory to the Ship Excelsior Captained by Sulo. I hoped that they might make a spin off series from that, yet no such luck!

That's one speculative storyline that was considered, and I believe it's been discarded. Paramount is considering reassimbling the TNG cast one last time. Patrick Stewart has already said he's been approached, and agreed to reprise the role if Paramount goes that way.
Yes, I think a "Star Trek: Excelsior" show would have been a big hit. At this point, I think the main actors (George Takei and Grace Lee Whitney) are a bit long in the tooth to reprise the roles on a regular basis, though.

I met Grace Lee Whitney once. Marvelous Christian witness!!
