I do not know if a thread has actually been started about this subject but if not, then here goes.

We have songs in our songbooks like Precious Memories and Wayfaring Stranger with lyrics about seeing our precious earthly fathers and our mothers and other loved ones in heaven.

Do you all think or believe that we will know and recognize each other as former husbands and wives or fathers and children or friends or such in heaven when we get there ?

If you do, why do you believe so ? If not, why not ?

    Thanks.

A-HA, Followed you here from the C/A,

    Dear Brother,
I think this is a worthy thread, but because it is worthy it deserves my attention in study.

I will say that I believe all the elect family of God gathered in heaven will know as they are known.

To the extent this will include family members I do not know, that is why I need to study the points.

I do not think that if I am not there my family members who are will be looking for me and be sad because of my absence.

Because of this I oppose the so-called grandma stories sometimes heard in persuasion of hearers to believe and repent.

    I will post more later.

    God Bless
    Bro. Dallas

We know that there will be some tears in heaven at least until the Lord wipes them away. Perhaps those tears will be the result of loved one who do not make it.

Rev 7:17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

We also know that when the new heavens are created our past memories will be wiped clean. Perhaps this is so that we do not go through eternity with sorrow on our minds.
Isaiah 65:17 says, "For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered or come to mind."

I do know that David made comment when his baby died--something like--"He cannot return to me but I will go to him.---that sorta gives reference to seeing and recognizing family in glory--

Also, I'm not sure right off which patriarch had died but the word says that he "died and was gathered unto his Fathers."

Lazarus and the rich man died---both made a departure and were seperated from each other, of course, by the "Great Gulf"---but even in that seperation---there was still recognition.

In a glorious way---when I make my departure from this ole ball of dust we call Earth---that because my dad and mom were both saved---I will recognize them both (1) still as my earthly parents and (2) in a far more glorious way still---
