He gave a very eloquent speech at Senator Byrd's Memorial service today in Charleston WV... http://www.wsaz.com/news/headlines/97290559.html

Which is nothing really remarkable... I mean, after all, he is a very good communicator...

What I did find remarkable was that somehow, someway, he managed not to blame Bush for Byrd's death!...

So Kudos to you President Obama.. finally, you may be moving on!

(Tinytim drops his head and slowly walks away.... )

Then suddenly stops in his tracks, turns and says...

"Byrd didn't die on a hunting trip, or in a gun accident, so it can't be Cheney's fault!"

Maybe he was the Byrd that Chaney was hunting.

Yeah, he kind glossed over some of Byrd's history. Trent Lott was chased out of office for a lot less.

"I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side ... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds. ”
    — Robert C. Byrd, in a letter to Sen. Theodore Bilbo (D-MS), 1944

    More recently:

"There are white n-ggers. I've seen a lot of white n-ggers in my time"
    Robert Byrd, May 2, 2007
