Forgive me if this has been dealt with before, or currently is elsewhere, as I'm new here to this forum.
But, I would like to start a discussion on the proper way to "lead" a person to Christ. I put lead in quotations knowing that in reality it is the Holy Spirit actually doing the leading.
To begin with, it seems to me the common practice is just trying to get one to say a"sinner's prayer". Or, to "invite Jesus into their hearts". When, in reality a so-called sinner's prayer can save no one. And, why would a Holy God enter, just upon invitation, a sinful corrupt heart without first repentence.
As I study this, it all seems to hinge on repentance. As soul winners let us be very careful about first discerning true repentance in the supposed convert before leading them in any kind of prayer, or flipantly telling someone to invite Jesus into their hearts.
    Comment please.

A great site that sums up what I try to use in "leading" someone to Christ is: www.livingwaters.com
By bringing the person under the law of God, then can they see their need of the Saviour and thus it brings repentance and faith in Christ Jesus. Otherwise, we have unconverted "Christians" playing Church and being told by the pastor "you said the sinners prayer, you are saved."

    God bless, Kenneth
