Ken, I wish that you would write a thread about libertarian Rockwell futility. The way you worded this thread, you have kind of a BB bait and switch going. If you had mentioned that Rockwell, I myself could have saved the time of looking and the time of writing this complaint.

Finally, I put libertarians on the left because of their advocacy of abortion, same-sex marriage, legalization of prostitution and drugs, and their concern about their rights over the rights of the government which is also characteristic of the wealthy leftists.

And you have to admit, Ken, that the overwhelming majority of libertarians support the planks of their platform that I have listed above. In fact, do you think that it might be about 99 and 44/100s of them, Ken?

The federal government has no rights. It only has powers delegated to it by the States and by the people.

A sizable portion, perhaps 1/3, of libertarians are pro-life .

I'm libertarianish, pro-life, against gay marriage, unsure about legalization of prostitution, pro-marijuana legalization, and against legalization of other drugs.

I think the government needs to be restricted to doing its job and not worrying so much about whether I'm wearing a seatbelt or if I might be too fat.

And how many others in the libertarian party like you do you think that there are and why are you in a party that consistently is pro-abortion. Petrel?

    I'm so libertarian I won't join the Libertarians. :D

I vote Republican because they're usually pro-life and have a chance at actually winning.

Church mouse guy: "Finally, I put libertarians on the left because of their advocacy of abortion, ... "

tee hee. I put libetarians on the left cause their name
starts with the same five letters as 'liberal' [IMG]

Sorry, but it is a sin to label a group because of one factor.
Anyway, the libertarians are NOT advocates of abortion.
I went to a Libertarian info meeting in 1974 and asked about
abortion. They said it was up to each Libertarians own
conscience. I do not see how that constitutes endorcement
nor why someone would damn them on one item only :(

Ed, I posted their platform on the issue several times during the election. They are in favor of allowing abortion to be left legal. In fact, the exact words of the 2004 Libertarian Platform, Ed, are, "We oppose all laws likely to impose restrictions on free choice and private property or to widen tyranny through reverse discrimination."

If you had read my previous post, Ed, you would have seen that I also mentioned their advocacy of legalization of prostitution, drugs, and same-sex marriage. So I don't know why you are labelling my post as a sin. Evidently things have changed since the 1974 meeting that you attended one time.

Here is the link to the current platform, Ed.

I myself can't tell the difference between Libertarians and the crowd at Malibu and at Hollywood.

The majority of the GOP leadership wishes abortions to remain legal as well, does that mean the GOP party as a whole supports abortion?

I disagree with the Libertarians on issues of abortion, homosexual marriages & unions, etc.

But, I agree with them on most government issues!

That is because you are a modernist, NetPub. That is why the Constitution Party has so little use for the poor in their platform and that is why you you are writing today about majority, etc., etc, etc., instead of platform, which was the topic. The Constitution Party has made it clear that they disagree with the GOP about same-sex marriage because the CP has repeatedly said that under no circumstances should the people be allowed to ammend the Constitution to prevent same-sex marriage. The Constitution Party demands that their ideas be imposed upon the American people no matter what. The Constitution Party has openly attacked the war on terror by suggesting to the Islamofascists that the USA is acting illegally in Iraq and that if the Constitution Party gains power Iraq will be abandoned to al-Qaeda or whosoever takes over.

I don't know of any Libertarians in the Democratic party. Most are in the Libertarian Party or the Republican party or they are independant. The Democratic party's socialist views make it incompatible with Libertarian beliefs. I am not sure of any Libertarians in the Constitution Party since the CP is probably the only pure Conservative party around. Many Libertarians however appreciate the CP original intent interpretation of the Constitution so I quess it is possible to be a Libertarian in the CP .

The Constitution Party disagreement with ammending the Constitution to prevent same-sex marriage is based on the fact that the Federal government has no authority to marry people. Personaly I wish the State government had no authority in this area and that Marriage would be completely under the control of Churches.

However, Kiffen, the federal government has the authority to regulate marriage as was demonstrated by the admission of Utah to the union without plural marriage.

I should have said that on social issues, the Libertarians are like Malibu and Hollywood. On economic issues they are capitalistic but then so are some of the people in Malibu and Hollywood although most are socialistic because it allows the rich more control over the poor.

I consider myself to be a conservative libertarian since I am opposed to the State recognizing homosexual marriage and I am opposed to the State sanctioning abortion.

One can be a libertarian and not accept the liberalism of NOW or of NARAL, etc.

If the state gave control of marriage over to the churches, the Episcopal church would be marrying so many same-sex persons that San Francisco would be complaining of excess and the Mormons would have so many wives that Islam would be saying that the limit is 4. And who knows what the rednecks would be doing?

The Libertarian party is hopeless because the social liberals are in control and they do not want to be bothered with social issues so they just say do what ever you want: abort, same-sex marry, sell drugs, prostitute yourself--just leave me alone and do not interfere with my economic activity.
