Left-wing “progressives” and the “libertarian” Infowars.com website of Alex Jones are having a nervous breakdown over events in Ukraine. The anti-communist revolution has the potential to reveal who is really committed to the notion of a “Free World” and seek to protect it against a resurgent Russia. There are lessons here for freedom-loving people around the world.

Ukrainian-Americans are elated. “The Ukrainian revolution has won today and it’s very emotional for me,” writes Oleg Atbashian, a writer and graphic artist from the former USSR who was born and raised in Ukraine. Oleg is the founder of the People’s Cube website, which exposes with ridicule the schemes of the communists and their fellow travelers, the progressives.

One of his latest entries is about the growing number of Lenin statues being toppled in Ukraine: “Despite severe weather conditions, the plan to topple Lenin statues in Ukraine has been successfully completed this month, ahead of schedule. The government of the former Soviet republic is happy to report that the quota of toppling monuments to Vladimir Lenin and other communist leaders has been met and in some places exceeded, with toppling of a number of unrelated statues in the process.”

In reality, this humorous entry isn’t far from the truth. A “Good Bye Lenin” website shows the number of Lenin statues being toppled so far. A video shows some being toppled, while this photo list has pictures of the statues that have been targeted.

On the left, however, journalist Robert Parry is disappointed with the anti-communist revolution in Ukraine and the overthrow of the “pro-Russian government.” He calls it a “coup” and setback for President Obama’s foreign policy.

“As President,” Parry writes, “Obama has sought a more cooperative relationship with Russia’s Putin and, generally, a less belligerent approach toward adversarial countries. Obama has been supported by an inner circle at the White House with analytical assistance from some elements of the U.S. intelligence community.”

This used to be called “appeasement.” It still seems to be the left’s foreign policy.

Using the kind of language we see coming out of Moscow, whose puppet in Ukraine has been overthrown, Parry refers to the revolutionaries in Ukraine as “neo-fascist storm troopers,” “neo-Nazi militias,” and “right-wing armed patrols.”

It appears that Parry is auditioning for a show on RT (Russia Today), the Moscow-funded propaganda network that is available on many U.S. cable and satellite systems, such as Comcast. His colleague, Thom Hartmann, described as the #1 progressive radio talk-show host in the U.S., is already on RT, doing a program called “The Big Picture.” He takes Russian money without apology, but recoils when questioned about it.

The “Big Picture” is that events in Ukraine have exposed the pro-Russian sensibilities of the “progressive” left in the United States. They do not want to see anti-communism succeed under any circumstances. If anti-communism can win in Ukraine, perhaps it can make a comeback in other countries, like Venezuela or even the U.S.!

A press release with the headline “Ukraine: Coup with Far Right Calling Shots” comes from the Institute for Public Accuracy, a group supported by Barbra Streisand. It offered up a commentator who has expressed alarm that the new Ukrainian government is threatening to outlaw the Communist Party of Ukraine.

Such widely-watched leftist programs as “Democracy Now!,” hosted by Amy Goodman, have insisted that the country’s “democratically elected president” has been overthrown and question the nature of the revolution in Ukraine. While Viktor Yanukovych did win an election in 2010, by 49 percent to 46 percent, he consolidated his power in an illegal and unconstitutional way, raising serious questions about whether the next presidential election in March 2015 would be free and fair. Then his police opened fire on peaceful protesters.

Part of his plan, which we are seeing unfold in the U.S. under Obama’s FCC, was to stifle dissident voices.

Freedom House pointed out, “The media [in Ukraine] do not provide the population with unbiased information, as business magnates with varying political interests own and influence many outlets, and the state exercises politicized control over a nationwide television network and television stations at the regional level. Some 69 percent of Ukrainians get their news from television, and the medium now features fewer alternative points of view, open discussions, and expert opinions than in previous years.” It added that “Pressure on independent media increased dramatically during 2013.”

The anti-freedom forces on the left have been joined by Alex Jones on the right in denouncing the uprising in Ukraine. One can find any number of stories on the Jones website echoing what the left is saying. In the past, Jones has defended the Russian invasion of Georgia, a former Soviet republic like Ukraine. Lyndon LaRouche, a convicted felon who began his career as a Marxist, was recently on the Alex Jones radio show warning about the “destabilization of Ukraine” by the West, and a “potential thermonuclear war with Russia.”

Oh now you're just upset that Alex Jones and the alternative media is way ahead of the mainstream "leftie vs rightie" spin on this story, as usual.

Here's a little background to fill in the blanks the mainstream media has created in your mind.

    The Grand Chess Board . . .

Brzezinski sets the tone for his strategy by describing Russia and China as the two most important countries - almost but not quite superpowers - whose interests that might threaten the U.S. in Central Asia. Of the two, Brzezinski considers Russia to be the more serious threat. Both nations border Central Asia. In a lesser context he describes the Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Iran and Kazakhstan as essential "lesser" nations that must be managed by the U.S. as buffers or counterweights to Russian and Chinese moves to control the oil, gas and minerals of the Central Asian Republics (Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan).

He also notes, quite clearly (p. 53) that any nation that might become predominant in Central Asia would directly threaten the current U.S. control of oil resources in the Persian Gulf. In reading the book it becomes clear why the U.S. had a direct motive for the looting of some $300 billion in Russian assets during the 1990s, destabilizing Russia's currency (1998) and ensuring that a weakened Russia would have to look westward to Europe for economic and political survival, rather than southward to Central Asia. A dependent Russia would lack the military, economic and political clout to exert influence in the region and this weakening of Russia would explain why Russian President Vladimir Putin has been such a willing ally of U.S. efforts to date. (See FTW Vol. IV, No. 1 - March 31, 2001)

An examination of selected quotes from "The Grand Chessboard," in the context of current events reveals the darker agenda behind military operations that were planned long before September 11th, 2001.

You should have read the book. Then you might have been better able to make sense of what you're seeing happen instead of repeatedly falling for all the mainstream neocon "pro interventionist" spin.

Here's the kind of "freedom" Washington the EU and the IMF have in mind for the people of Ukraine.

Central Banker Appointed as Prime Minister of Ukraine

    Kurt Nimmo

    Prison Planet.com
    February 27, 2014

A reshuffled Ukrainian Parliament installed following a coup last week has voted to appoint Arseniy Yatsenyuk as the new prime minister of the country. Yats, as Victoria Nuland, the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs at the U.S. State Department, called him, is a natural choice. He is a millionaire former banker who served as economy minister, foreign minister and parliamentary speaker before Yanukovych took office in 2010. He is a member of Yulie Tymoshenko’s Fatherland Party. Prior to the revolution cooked up by the State Department and executed by ultra-nationalist street thugs, Tymoshenko was incarcerated for embezzlement and other crimes against the people of Ukraine. Now she will be part of the installed government, same as she was after the last orchestrated coup, the Orange Revolution.

Yats will deliver Ukraine to the international bankers. “Ukraine is on the brink of bankruptcy and needs to be saved from collapse — Yatsenyuk has a strong economic background,” Ariel Cohen, senior fellow at the Washington-based Heritage Foundation, told Bloomberg on Wednesday. “Ukraine faces difficult reforms but without them there won’t be a successful future.”

Discussion with the IMF is crucial, US Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew said earlier this week. In order to cinch the deal, the U.S. government will sweeten the pot. Lew talked with the IMF boss, Christine Lagarde, about Ukraine as he headed back from a globalist confab, the G-20 meeting in Sydney, Australia.

“Secretary Lew informed Managing Director Lagarde that he had spoken earlier in the day with Ukrainian leader Arseniy Yatsenyuk and advised him of the broad support for an international assistance package centered on the IMF, as soon as the transitional Ukrainian government is fully established by the Parliament,” MNI News reported on Monday. “Secretary Lew also noted that he had communicated to Mr. Yatsenyuk the need to quickly begin implementing economic reforms and enter discussions with the IMF following the establishment of the transitional government.”

Ukraine’s story is right out of the IMF playbook. The nation’s corrupt leaders past and present – most notably Tymoshenko, who went to prison for corruption and wholesale thievery – have enriched themselves at the expensive of ordinary Ukrainians.

“Ukraine at the dawn of independence was among the ten most developed countries, and now it drags out a miserable existence,” Communist Party leader Petro Symonenko said last year. The nation’s leaders “signed a memorandum with the International Monetary Fund to meet the requirements of the oligarchs, but on the other hand — to timely pay the interest on the IMF loans and to raise the prices for gas and electricity,” Symonenko said.

IMF Vultures Swoop to Asset-Strip Ukraine

Globalists demand “policy reforms” in return for making Ukraine their latest debt slave.

    Paul Joseph Watson
    Prison Planet.com

Following a western-backed coup, the IMF is wasting little time in sending its vultures to asset strip Ukraine, with the announcement that the International Monetary Fund will offer financial assistance in return for “policy reforms”.

Issuing the IMF’s first official response to the crisis, managing director Christine Lagarde said IMF officials would be dispatched to Ukraine to, “start discussing with the Ukrainian authorities which policy reforms would be required in exchange for an emergency loan program,” reports the Associated Press.

In other words, just as it did in Greece, the IMF is about to turn Ukraine into its latest debt slave, helping western banks in looting the country of its prized assets and natural resources while imposing draconian austerity measures on the population in order to fill a $35 billion dollar hole and stop the country going into default.

While Euromaidan protesters may have been deluded into thinking they were fighting for “democracy” in ousting an elected president, the kind of “democracy” the IMF practices – installing unelected technocrats accountable only to itself while robbing the host population through onerous taxes, the sell-off of public infrastructure, and painful austerity fascism – is going to make Viktor Yanukovych look like a populist in comparison.

In reality, Ukraine is merely passing from being under the control of one gang of crooks to another. The rich oligarchs who once enjoyed the bounty of the resource rich country will now go scuttling back to Russia with Yanukovych, only to be usurped by IMF scavengers who will if anything intensify the pillaging.

In addition, while the Yanukovych government was satisfied with its own crony brand of corruption, the IMF will impose the kind of “reforms” that will ensure Ukraine’s sovereignty is completely eviscerated and that the country remains firmly shackled with the chains of globalist debt for decades to come.

    < snip >

With the IMF set to sink its teeth into yet another sovereign nation, even as Russia attempts to stir up a counter-revolution, Euromaidan protesters would do well to read up on the history of nations who sell their soul to globalist debt sharks and end up paying a heavier price than anyone could imagine.

    http://www.prisonplanet.com/imf-vultures-swoop-to-asset-strip-ukraine.html

How many times do I have to remind you Rev? It's not about "left vs right" it's about right vs wrong. Spending 5 billion dollars to destabilize Ukraine so the global bankers can take it over is just wrong, "freedom" and "democracy" isn't even in the equation for the people of Ukraine. Just IMF looting and austerity and having a brand new NATO base on the Russian border.

Just as laid out by Brzezinski in the Grand Chess Board.

You really should take the time to read the book.

    **SIGH**

The utter lack of knowledge that he is being influenced by communists is truly sad. So he lashes out at anyone who would dare question his view of things, no matter how warped and unrealistic they are. Hey, if its on InfoWars, it must be right, huh?

 Good article, Rev. Thanks for posting it.

The sad part about this post is that you probably don't even realize how well you fit the description. With the exception that you consistently side with corporatists or fascists (government and corporate power merged).

Couldn't help but notice that neither you or the Rev have attempted to post any information to back up your opinions. Just this typical non informative leftie vs rightie slander and spin opinion piece and of course your attempt to provide a bit of slander as a follow up to the Rev's slander and spin OP.

What's the problem, Fox failing to properly inform you again? Looks to me like you've been "out foxed" by real investgative reporting again. But don't worry Fox will be around to feed you all the leftie vs rightie talking points and opinions you can absorb for awhile longer.

Those who have to resort to using slander and spin do it because the facts aren't on their side.

This Is How the New Government in Ukraine Deals with Opponents

The bankers and EU apparatchiks now controlling Ukraine through their fascist proxies have a poster child for the movement – Alexander Muzychko. The thug Muzychko was caught on tape earlier this week exercising his version of discipline: smacking around a man who works for Ukraine’s prosecutor’s office. Not able to terrorize the prosecutor, who wasn’t in the office, the Right Sector knuckle dragger assaulted his staff.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlKEF5uoU_I

The behavior is identical to that used by Hitler’s brownshirts against their political opposition. One wonders how long it will be before bodies are floating in the Dnieper River and concentration camps are brimming with political enemies.

Muzychko was a mercenary who fought against Russia in Chechnya. He is the current leader of Right Sector, the ultra-nationalist and fascist group that helped violently overthrow the government in Ukraine and institute the current regime.

What was all that about "freedom and democracy" winning in Ukraine?

Good ole Cliff Kincaid. All I can say is Rev, if you've taken to reading this guy's stuff it's no wonder you've confused slander and paranoia with investigative reporting.

Kincaid: Alex Jones, Infowars Work for the Kremlin

    Kurt Nimmo
    Infowars.com
    February 27, 2014

In response to Infowars.com’s commentary pointing out what few other media website dare touch – the revolution in Ukraine was engineered by and for the benefit of the global elite – self-proclaimed media watchdog Cliff Kincaid has characterized Alex Jones and his staff as craven apologists for Russia.

His twin broadsides appear on Right Side News and Renew America, a PAC founded by perennial political candidate Alan Keyes.

In the articles posted on Wednesday, the director of Accuracy In Media – a bulldog organization that takes money from Richard Mellon Scaife, a billionaire with connections to the CIA – argues that our analysis on Ukraine is little more than “disinformation designed to confuse people and benefit Russia.” Kincaid attempts to discredit our criticism of George Soros and his operations in Eastern Europe by noting that an avowed socialist, Peter Schwarz, cited the same sources. Mr. Kincaid seems to believe factual resource material is somehow discredited and tainted if it is also cited by Marxists. This is a common tactic used by so-called “conservatives” and their neocon allies.

Remarkably, and inexplicably, Kincaid seems to believe Infowars and Alex Jones are part of some nefarious Russian propaganda operation in the United States, a contention so bizarre it reeks of paranoia. He drags former Congressman Ron Paul into the fray and insinuates the former Texas Congressman is part of a sprawling pro-Putin operation conducted by the Russians who have remained orthodox Marxists all these years after the fall of a fossilized Soviet Union.

Our critique of the orchestrated coup in Ukraine, Kincaid insists, is “a deliberate exaggeration designed to take the focus away from the Obama administration’s failure to confront Russia’s designs on the region.”

Russia’s designs, real or imagined, are quite contrary to the interests of the United States. Kincaid and his neocon fellow travelers see red, quite literally, when libertarians insist the United States should refrain from meddling in the affairs of other nations, as George Washington advised.

Kincaid underscores his aversion to libertarian principles and his unwavering allegiance to the state worshipping interventionist neocons when he declares Soros and Jones to be “in striking agreement” on the decriminalization and legalization of “marijuana and other dangerous drugs.” Kincaid’s remark, quite irrelevant to the argument at hand, exemplifies the conservative-neocon ethos perfectly – not only do they not respect the sovereignty of nations, they also disrespect the sovereignty of adult individuals engaged in consenting, nonviolent behavior. For the neocons, who trace their lineage back to the Trotskyists, violence by the state unleashed in reflexive fashion against perceived enemies, both abroad and at home, is preferred behavior.

Finally, Kincaid’s assertion that the “revolution” in Ukraine is merely a homespun reaction to Russian domination is betrayed by the telephone conversation between Nuland and Pyatt of the State Department earlier this month. The National Endowment for Democracy, which has admitted it is in the business of overthrowing governments, is quite proud of its direct meddling in Ukraine and boasts about it on this page.

It is also a known fact, not some paranoid Russian conspiracy theory, that the US Agency for International Development (USAID), granted millions of dollars to the Poland-America-Ukraine Cooperation Initiative (PAUCI), which is administered by the US-based Freedom House. The money was dispersed to numerous Ukrainian NGOs.

“This would be bad enough and would in itself constitute meddling in the internal affairs of a sovereign nation. But, what is worse is that many of these grantee organizations in Ukraine are blatantly in favor of presidential candidate Viktor Yushchenko,” writes Ron Paul, one of the few American politicians who actually opposed such interventionism. Paul’s article is worth reading because it spells out how the U.S. uses NGOs to undermine the political process in foreign countries.

Mr. Kincaid, who counts as his mentor Oliver North, the man who plotted against the Constitution, is deaf to any such reasoning or the fact this country at its founding steered clear of entangling alliances, as Thomas Jefferson declared in his inaugural address in 1801. This idea came to an end during the Spanish-American War, a historical development later enthusiastically celebrated by the neocons and their warmongering supporters and cheerleaders.

    http://www.infowars.com/kincaid-alex-jones-infowars-work-for-the-kremlin/

The real fact of the matter is when it comes to American citizens Cliff Kincaid hates freedom and individual liberty and our founding principles almost as much as TND does. The state and it's power to coerce and control others are their real idols. Freedom and liberty are just words they use to make themselves sound like patriots.

To loosely quote TND over several past threads . . . "if you don't believe the state is god then you're an idiot, airhead, liberal, marxist, communist, moonbat, low life, scum bag, leftist, progressive, democrat, and not only that you distrust all authority, blah blah blah, I have spoken and I am never ever wrong about anything you idiot, airhead, liberal, marxist. communist, moobat, low life, scum bag, leftist, progressive, democrat so there!"

I can see how a guy like Alexander Muzychko would be man of the hour in TND's book. I had higher hopes for you though Rev.

US-Backed Neo-Nazi Party Given Key Roles in Ukrainian Government

Ukraine party accused of anti-Semitism receives top positions in new government

As the fires die down from the turmoil in Kiev, a political party that has been accused of promoting anti-Semitism and xenophobia is set to reap the benefits of the new government arrangement.

The Svoboda Party will take control of not one, but three ministries in the interim government.

These posts include the deputy prime minister and the heads of the agriculture and environmental ministries. In addition to these positions, a Svoboda lawmaker was appointed the new prosecutor general in the interim government.

Extremist group rewarded with power weeks after meeting with McCain & Nuland

    Paul Joseph Watson
    Prison Planet.com
    February 28, 2014

Confirmation that a US-backed neo-nazi party has been handed key positions within the newly formed Ukrainian government illustrates the fact that the Euromaidan uprising was a contrived coup d’etat and has very little to do with freedom and democracy.

Back in December, around the same time that top U.S. diplomat Victoria Nuland announced that the United States had invested $5 billion dollars to help Ukrainians achieve a new form of government, Senator John McCain met with Svoboda Party leader Oleh Tyahnybok, sharing the stage with him at an event during which McCain gave the United States’ blessing for the opposition revolt.

As recently as three weeks ago, Nuland met with both Tyahnybok and Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who is now Ukraine’s interim Prime Minister. In a leaked phone conversation, Nuland was caught red-handed scheming to install Yatsenyuk in the government before President Viktor Yanukovych had even fled Kiev.

The fact that both Tyahnybok and Yatsenyuk have been handed the reigns of power following the ouster of President Yanukovych just weeks after Nuland afforded them Washington’s seal of approval clearly reveals the United States’ central role in the overthrow of a democratically elected government.

Yatsenyuk’s history as a banker makes him the perfect candidate to assume the role of technocrat in selling Ukraine into IMF debt slavery. However, the Svoboda Party’s rise to prominence is even more chilling given the organization’s clear links to extremist groups and anti-Semitism.
