Ah, Pastor Mitchell, if you click on the link you will see that this thread is about the European headquarters of the U.N.

Since the Bush administration has now made the United States into a thoroughly socialist nation your statement includes the United States.

Yes, but President Bush greatly accelerated the process.

Arguably, the process started with the presidency of Teddy Roosevelt, another Republican.

The Republicans have controlled the Congress for almost all of the past 14 years. The Supreme Court has been controlled by Republican appointees for decades. The Republicans have controlled the presidency for the past 8 years.

Knock Democrats all you want but to say they have controlled the federal government to any significant degree for the past 8 years is pure poppycock.

Reciprocated by Franklin D. Roosevelt or should I say solidified by a demigod Democrat.

7 of the 9 Supreme Court justices were appointed by Republicans.

The Democrats did not regain control of both houses of Congress till Jan 07.

    Agreed.

It's an organization that is rotten to the core. It is fitting that they conduct their business in a crumbling, rotten structure.

I think that we should all be able to see and agree that there's not a dime's worth of difference between the current major parties. It is time for both to go.

Now that is a post right on target. I see thread after thread, post after post, making Republicans better than Democrats or vice versa, and who started this mess or that mess. All one can do is shake their head in unbelief. It is almost comical if it was not so tragic to see the Democratic and Republican apologists on this board backtrack, blame, point fingers, and scatter like rats.

I agree Old Regular, we need to get out of the U.N. Get them out of the U.S. then watch the whole mess self destruct once we stop contributing financially.

    Let us be honest.

    1. Some of the Supreme Court justices were either liberals in conservative clothing or seduced by the DC elites after they got there. Souter is perhaps the worst.

    2. The machinery of Government is controlled by the bureaucrats who are mostly liberal/left. Some of these people , particularly in the CIA, have tried to shaft Bush since he has been in office. It has been conceded that the State Department, called foggy bottom, is run by career bureaucrats .

Maybe we could issue a new type of Bachelor's Degree, A Bachelor's of Republican Apologetics.

The appointment of justices to the Supreme Court is more complex than the political party of the President. Comparing strictly on the bases of party affiliation of the President and his choice of justices is like judgeing a book and critiquing it by its cover while remaining totally ignorant of the contents. It does make for efficient campaign rhetoric and pulls some votes but there is really more to the appointment of justices and the judgements of the courts besides the political persuasion of the President's party. So BIG DEAL that 7 appointments of 9 were made by Republican.

Let me ask this, are the justices partisan as the result of their appointment, or are they partisan as a result of their own persuasion? They render opinions, somtimes unanimously but more often divided. What is the rule for their opinion? How can any man predict what is supposed to be an impartial judgement? Why is it that we judge the Presidency by their appointments to the SCOTUS? What is the power of the SCOTUS, the POTUS, the Legislature? What are the checks and balances available? Why don't we hold the Branches of Government to them? Check carefully the Constitution of the United States before answering these questions.
