Elijah: you and I will have lots of laughs when we get to heaven. "Remember when you said...." and "Well, how about when you replied...." Ha ha ha! Yes, you are a worthy debate opponent and a cherished friend in Christ...as are all here on BB.

I am sternly opposed to "evangelical tools" and "church growth programs" which in my opinion do not measure up to strict Biblical standards. But the KJV Only argument is so laughable it makes me roll on the floor. What did God do prior to silly old King James? Ridiculous.

In a Christian Bulletin Board, you'd expect heated debate generating spiritual light, not carnal hostility.

diane and I disagree on The Passion, but she has great ideas on Christian worship services, music, and Children's Church.

The same principle is true with lots of saints with which I have debated. You can tell a truth-seeker from an argument-lover. Some posters remind me of the saying: "I'm really good at arguing. Just ask any of my former friends."

Some people get enraged when you aggressively express an opinion or point of view they don't like...and get ecstatic when someone expresses an opinion they do like. All that stuff is funny. I seek truth, as do most of the BB posters. But the hostile acts are obvious and so sad. Oh well. We all have our good and bad points. My good point is I'm stubborn. My bad point is I'm stubborn. Ha!

Peace.

"Faith comes by hearing, not by seeing
a stinking movie.
It seems to be just another ecumenical
attempt to bring in the New World One
World Religion.
In Isaiah 52:14 the bible says that His
visage was so marred more than any man, this stinking Hollywood movie
crowd still has no idea of the real suff-
erings of the cross.
And no where in the Bible does it tell
the worldly lost crowd to go and tell
the Gospel nor for God`s people to flock
to it in droves. Just imagine what all
that money wasted on that stinking
movie could do in the hands of a bible
believing missionary!
My bible still says in I Corin. 1:21 that
God is pleased only by the Preaching
of the gospel...that`s what God chose .
Man chose movies, plays and so-called
"Christian" rock concerts. Those things
are enough to make Jesus vomit.
II Corin. 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate ,
saith the Lord... This world says come on in and join us while we mock the bible and make Mel Gibson rich... I think it
ought to be done God`s way.

Hi Elijah; I don't know if you noticed the connection address of his e-mail, but it is "wmconnect.com" or in plain English "Wal-Mart Connect dot Com".

I must say he does like the word "stinking". Why don't you go to "Wal-Mart" and buy him a few "stick-ups" to put in his car, maybe he won't be in such a bad mood.

No joke ;) I did a search on the board for his name and user name and e-mail and came up with nothing. I assume that he is not a member of the board. I don't think he realizes that we Christians debate these issues in love and although may get a little "strong" in our stands, we still love each other and don't try to tear each other apart.
The sad fact is that he didn't post, he sent a private e-mail. I guess there are all kinds in this world.

Is he someone who has been banned from this forum? I replied to his e mail as kindly as possible, and reccomended that he seek mental help. Best advice I could come up with.

</font>[/QUOTE]I can't think of any better advice. I think you hit the nail on the head. In fact, for such a fine Christian does he realize he broke the "Spam" law by sending you an unsolicited e-mail without certain required specific information? This is a Federal Offense and I think it is a little funny how some Christians can justify certain things without a blink of the eye. I may live in a glass house, but I just thought the concept was interesting.

Yes, his name is very familiar to me too. Especially his last name----might do a search on his last name only, although I think I did, I don't miss much due to my experience in investigations of computer fraud. If he writes again, forward the e-mail with header and I'll nail down right where and who he is: Send it to [email protected]. Maybe he will send one to me. yuk yuk

Hey everyone, Tim L Bynum was a part of the board back aroud valentines day, but was so obnoxious he was banned. (I am Guessing)

Check out a few of the threads he started in the bible/versions forum back on 2-13-04. Some very off the wall stuff.
i got emails from him to, as did everyone that disagreed with him.

I didn't realize he was still lurking around, sending nasty emails. That's one dude I don't miss around here.

I can be opinionated sometimes, but would never stoop so low as to call someone a child of Satan.

Check out the threads in the BV/T forum and see for yourselves. especially the one titled "King james verses the New age versions" or something like that.

FYI

Im a bit groggy and lost this late at night, workded on computer all day, setting up web usability test program for a client, but...

...there is a Bynum who writes super legalistic hostile "baptist" literature, forget the first name, this may be his son...I may have some of that schlocky stuff around somewhere, seems like it may have been associated with Plains Baptist Messenger or something, or that Rev. Gayman who is against gays, oddly enuff...gay basher type.

...or this is a chatterbot, or emailbot, or some other non-human lurker load which is triggered by key words and launches its own "human sounding" post by programmed input. I dunno. I used to be good at differentiating bots from bods. Gettin old and senile I suppose.

you no laff at vaspers just because vaspers be tired and groggy and stuff...you very bad man to laff at vaspers...oh, you haven't laffed yet...but you will...and when you do...you very bad man to laff at vaspers, etc.

We'll put Mel's film right up there with pants on women, rock music, shorts, and all the other depraved evil things than men have come up with!

Did any of you anti-catholic, anti-Mel guys ever think that the film might actually help break some lost hearts? - that God might actually have been using it? - or are you just mad because it portrayed the LEGALISTIC Pharisees in a bad light!
laugh.gif

Just kidding about the last part! ;)

Lighten up guys - the film isn't perfect but it's still a good witness!

If mel's heretical film is "good witness," then what's wrong with Hail Mary film by Godard...

...or The Last Temptation of Christ?

...or Jesus Christ Superstar?

...or Godspell?

...or Texas Chainsaw Massacre?

P.S. I'm not anti-Catholics. I was personally helped once by a Catholic free medical clinic. The Protestants and Baptists had no free medical clinic in my area. I like lots of Catholics, John Michael Talbot, Fulton Sheen, Augustine, Fenelon, Teresa of Avila, etc. See past posts.

Charles Meadows you said: ""Anti-Passionism -- The new fundamental of NeoIFB's...Did any of you anti-catholic, anti-Mel guys ...the film isn't perfect but it's still a good witness! "

Since most scenes were from or fully influenced by the divination writings of Emmerich, a stigmatic who levitated, etc, Mary of Agreda and St Bridget, are you prepared to say they were women of God, and Biblically sound as a source of doctrine?

Both pro-movie and anti-movie people have stated there is no Scripture that supports 'artistic license'. Many claim that ' artistic license' allows for the use of the "divination" writings.

If you could provide the Scripture that supports your position that the movie should be used, based on this information, please do.

Many claim the scourging is exactly what Christ suffered. Based on the Scriptures,a) only the soldiers were present b) Jesus was not caned 32 times c) He bared His back to the smiters d)He was not whipped on his front.

Was the portrayal of Jesus being afraid Biblical, or does that deny the divinity and sinlessness of Christ? If Jesus feared, he sinned, according to 1 John 4:17-20. That means the work of the cross is destroyed in the movie. THAT movie Jesus, is another Jesus and another Gospel, which many call wonderful and Biblically accurate.

We are called to One gospel and One Jesus--- according to the Word of God , and which is not based on your so-called, """Anti-Passionism -- The new fundamental of NeoIFB's"

To accept another gospel and another Jesus, is not of God, according to His Word . It's that simple, and it is not based on opinion, emotion or just a feeling. There is no "other" but the Scriptural and real One.

2 Cor 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

The Catholic gospel includes the crowning of Mary as Queen of Heaven, and her as co-redeemer, which is also in those writings of the nuns. That is what Mel Gibson believes. Is that your belief as well?

I got any idea, let's let God deal with Mel Gibson's heretical, gratuitously violent distortion of the plan of salavation.

Let's not hang anyone. Rather, hang our heads low and weep over the lack of discernment the evangelical world, which should know better, is displaying by endorsing a garbled, Hellywood film.

Hang onto biblical accuracy. Hang out with genuine Christians who know scriptural truth from bogus masochistic mystical delusions and psychotic visions disgracing the true Christ of the Gospels.

Poor Mel. What a confused, angry, anti-Semitic, and cultish man. A man who loves to pile on abuse against our dear Lord and Savior.

Pray for him and those who praise him for his violence-lovers film...that rejects Christ's Resurrection and glorious Ascension as not being gory and brutal enough to warrant cinematic treatment.

:(
Holy Cow!!!

Have you not read where Christ was beaten with a whip of 9 tails that contained shards of rock, bone, and other things to rip the flesh. He was so beaten that He was not recognizable and then His beard was pulled out by the fist fulls and He was simply a form of a man but could not be certainly known who He was if not for the crown of thorns and sign above His head. Mel admitted that he purposely scaled back the crucifixion so that people would accept it enough to consider the message. A true representation would most certainly be banned!!!

Mel "scaled back the crucifixion" this is not entirely true.

Mel added considerably to the scourging and crucifying of our Lord, pulling the cross up and down so Jesus flips back and forth like pancake, Jesus shoved off bridge and dangling from a chain, etc.

Mel added much nonsense, so that this literally is not a Christian movie in any true sense at all. One Eyed Jesus who draws strength from His mother Mary and is afraid of "traps set for Him" and doesn't want disciples to see Him "this way" (i.e. fearful), etc.---what Jesus is this?

Not the real Jesus of the Bible, but of Mel's sick imagination and masochist mystics who want to atone for the sins of their friends, see www.emmerich1.com for the whole story on this film's inspiration.

Not a Christian movie, hardly even Catholic in the best sense. Poor confused Mel, who said to Diane Sawyer "we are all children of God...everybody's going to heaven, Christians just have an easier ride there."

A truly saved man would never say such garbage.

Jesus did not say "I am one of many Ways, one of many Truths, and one of many Lifes. No man cometh to the Father EASILY, but by Me."

Hi, I am getting mixed up where to post what. The scourging was not Biblically accurate. Jesus was not caned 32 times, before being whipped.

I also just posted some thoughts on another thread that do apply here.

If the portrayal of the scourging was accurate, and Jesus was brutally whipped on his front as well as his back, major arteries would have been cut and he would have bled out. In the movie he was being cut to the bone. Arteries are above that. He also would have been castrated if whipped on his front as shown in the movie. Think about it.

If the Mary's sopped up as much blood in the courtyard --where they were not even in attendance according to the Word of God---in the movie, Jesus would have been dead before getting to the cross.
