    You are correct. If the parents are not willing to accept Christ and join the Christian Church, infant baptism gives an unwarranted idea of personal salvation. The parents have to covenant that they will bring this child up in the presence of the church, where the elders can guide these souls in the Christian way of life.

    Infant baptism is an encouragement to the child that he or she was in a covenant relationship as part of the church and a part of the family of God.
