Maybe we should box them up and send them to congress. They came up with law. Let them figure out what to do with them.

Linda and I have several of the CFL's in our home and the 3 in the living room stay in around 16 hours a day on average.

The living room ceiling light has been in since nearly 2 years ago now and no sign of needing changing yet.

But, if it does, we do have plenty of plastic bags from the local grocery stores that we can put them in.

One thought. even in two plastic bags and put in outside trash container, they still go to same landfill... end up getting broke from heat from flames from burning trash... still pollute the land.

    Go figger.

The law says that you are to take them to a local hazerdous waste disposal/recycling center and not throw them in the trash - the same as batteries and other household hazerdous waste. Most people do not follow that. Instead, they just throw them in the trash.

I picked one up today at a store, and read the instruction on it...
No where does it say how to dispose of it... or what to do if it is broken...

Can you imagine a person holding a store hostage...."If you don't give me what I want, I am going to break this bulb!!!" lol

Fluorescents last a long time if you never turn them off. I have a light in the kitchen that is never turned off and I have replaced the bulb twice in 15 years.
