If you are, or know of, a young man who is available to serve as a part-time youth and music minister for a small Oklahoma church, then please send a resume to:

    Youth/Music Minister Search Committee
    First Baptist Church
    P.O. Box 481
    Newkirk, OK 74647

    Details:
We are a small (140-160 Sunday morning attendance) Southern Baptist church in North Central Oklahoma. Youth group averages about 30. We are conservative, adhering to the BFM 2000. We have recently transitioned into a blended worship style, using a multimedia projector, etc. We are looking for someone who is dynamic, but biblically solid. Our youth/music minister recently left to complete his education at Oklahoma Baptist University. He was a commuting student. Salary is negotiable.

    Pastor,

As someone who has expereinced the pros and cons of Music/Youth Ministry simultaneously, I understand the challenges of both. I will be praying for your situation, and will tell some of my friends about your church. I know of one who is currently seeking a ministry opportunity. God bless.

    Joshua,

I would appreciate your help and recommendations. It is a tough situation for us. Our former youth minister (named Josh, by the way) was fantastically gifted. I could do nothing else but encourage him to go on and develop his gifts. To try to retain him would be selfish. I have had a church member express willingness to supply a small house rent-free. Oklahoma State University is about 40 minutes away, and there are a couple of 2 year colleges within 20 minutes or so of here. The pastor previous to myself attended Southwestern Seminary's satellite campus at Shawnee. It would be a good situation for a student.

Both my wife and I graduated from SWBTS with MARE (my wife) and MATh (myself). We are eager to work with a dynamic individual who is forward-thinking.

    Thanks for your reply.
