Jeb Bush Inadvertently Says He's Running for President

May 13, 2015 Jeb Bush said Wednesday he is running for president. Wait, no. He said he is running for president if he is running for president.

When a reporter asked him how he would be different from his brother, Bush responded with a slight slip up. NBC News caught the moment:

If you've been following the burgeoning 2016 presidential race over the past several months, it's understandable if you've assumed that Bush is in the race. Officially, he's not. In the full remarks from his comments to reporters Wednesday, he makes that plenty clear. Bush said he'll make up his mind "soon, for sure" about a run after listening to people. He said that he's been "encouraged" from what he's heard.

His candidacy is only good for Dems. He is cut from the same mold as Romney, McCain, Dole, etc. He is an establishment progressive. He believes in big, powerful gov't every bit as much as Hillary or Obama... he just wants to use that power to benefit different special interests (sometimes). History suggests that the establishment GOP would rather lose to a Dem that will continue to grow gov't than to a conservative who might actually shrink or at least freeze it.

But the formula doesn't work. If I weren't convinced it was intentional by the establishment GOP, I'd be frustrated by the stupidity. "Moderates" (aka GOP establishment progressives) don't win and aren't effective when they do.

The winning formula is still the one Reagan and the 94 GOP won with. Be unashamed and clear in your constitutional conservative ideals. Explain a vision and prove a willingness to pursue it. Pull what you can from difficult voting blocks with a message of hope, freedom, and opportunity but at ALL costs... motivate the voters who believe deeply in those things including as many libertarians as you can pull in.

Won't work. The GOP is fractured . And there are just too many people who would rather see a Hillary type in the White House than another George Bush type bent on war and making mean, selfish old people concerned with only themselves wealthier.

Bush is going to run but I can't see him getting the nomination. I have yet to hear of a single Republican outside the beltway that wants him to run or thinks he has any chance of winning.
