"And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God."

Since Jesus is God, why did He rebuke the rich ruler for calling Him "Good Master"?

    Jesus is God.

It was an object lesson as were the previous parables in chap 18. The kid was being cheeky and Jesus knew it. He said he'd kept the commandments since he was a child but he was following rules while trusting in his money. He didn't really believe that Jesus was God, anymore than really believed that God would save him. He followed the rules because it was the thing to do, rather than out of true faith. That is why he went away sorrowful, because he couldn't imagine living on faith rather than living on his riches. He was invested in his money rather than in the God he purported to follow.
