sorry, to deny the virgin birth, the reality of God etc.... that would mean he is a heretic. Definately not a Christian. definately

Brian, I know exactly what you're saying. Jesus is A-OK, and to say so isn't inherently dismissive of Him. I don't defend this other guy, though, because it's clear that he only thinks Jesus was a pretty cool guy.

i don't like saying jesus was a-ok, since that's just a way of saying he measures up to my standards, which is ludicrous.

holy, holy, holy is the lord god almighty - i wish we all could feel this more intensely, because that's the reality of the situation.

    oh well, one day [IMG]

Your words sound holy holy holy but you are still the one who is establishing the standard by which you measure Christ and it is not a lot different from saying he is "A" okay! Just words based on personal opinion or quoting selected Biblical words. Your opinion of Christ will be revealed in your attitude toward others not in any words you may utter. Most personal testimony is just personal agrandizement.

    Lev.11
[44] For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy:

    Lev.19
[2] Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.

Lev. 20[7] Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God.
[26] And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.

    1Sam.2
[2] There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.

    Rev.4
[8] And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

You are right, Timothy. Some who do not want to acknowledge Jesus Christ for Who He Is, will one day bow the knee.

He will rule with a rod of iron for 1000 years. He is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. He is the KING OF KINGS and LORD OF LORDS! He is the Living God! He is the Creator of the Universes. He is the Redeemer. The Sacrifice for Sin before Holy God! He is the Bread of Life! He is the Alpha and Omega. He is the Son of the Living God! He holds the KEYS to Life and Death! He is the Great Physician. He is the Sustainer of Life.

He is more than just A-OK! And more than just a nice guy. And one day, EVERY TONGUE shall confess that Jesus Christ is LORD!

Yes, he is. Your profile says "Jesus is Coming Soon!", and Diane's says "Jesus has been my Lord and Savior since I was 8 years old." Jesus is more than either of those things too. [IMG] Much, MUCH more.

bobfrgsn - i need my advice just as much as anyone else. i sometimes get caught up in silly worldy attitudes and lose focus on who jesus really is - our infinitely holy god.

i don't measure christ though. i truly think it's silly to give him my personal stamp of approval, as it's just totally ridiculous - who am i to say christ is "acceptable"? what, i'm in a position to judge almighty god and find him "a-ok"? see what i mean?

AMEN Bob... I can't believe I agree with you, but we can not even begin to fathom the wonder of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is so totally above us. I just am dumbfounded in awe and wonder at how totally incapable I am of even contemplating Him.

No one here has disputed that he is more than a-okay, because he is -- and none of us has said he's merely a-okay. I won't speak for the rest, but I don't see how adding a-okay to the rest is wrong or an indication of how merely we understand him. My comment was merely to point out that using such language doesn't automatically show irreverence toward the Lord, as has been suggested.

Can we get past this? It's really petty.

BrianT. There's only a limited amount of space for our replies in our profiles. Believe me when I tell you that I TRIED to put more..... but room would not allow!

Jesus is MUCH MORE than A-OK.

I believe you. But even if you could write a 1000 pages in your profile, would it be enough to describe the infinite God? I kinda doubt it.
    Agreed. Who said he wasn't?
