Please can anyone tell me how to get mail alerts on my task bar? I am using Windows XP home edition and Yahoo mail. When I had "good old windows `98" I had this facility ......... don`t know how to do it on this machine

I use Yahoo Widget Engine (formarly known as Konfabulator) and a widget called Yahoo Mail Checker. It puts a widget on my desktop that checks my email every ten minutes or so.

I also use Firefox, and have the extension Yahoo Mail Notifier. When I get an email, a small window pops up in the corner of my browser (along with a chime) to let me know.

If you use Gmail, then get the extension Gmail Manager.

Oh, to get the Yahoo Widget Engine:

Lots more widgets than just an email checker.

    Yahoo Mail Notifier (for Firefox):

    Gmail Manager (for Firefox):
