Matthew 22:1-14 is the parable the Lord Jesus gave of a great wedding feast.

In the last statement of this parable, is the statement of the thread title:
14“For many are called, but few are chosen.”

In my opinion, too often this phrase is held in isolation rather then being properly joined to the parable.

This thread is meant to explore the whole parable, and draw conclusion from the parable concerning the statement, “For many are called, but few are chosen.”

Are their parallels to the characters in this parable to real characters?

For example: Is the king the Father? Is the son Christ?

If this is true, then those invited to the wedding feast must be the redeemed? But were then is the bride?

For example: Perhaps the story represents the estate of Israel rejection of the messiah and the soldiers sent to destroy and burn is reflecting prophecies. Perhaps then the invited guests are the gentile believers. Where then is the bride?

What of the uninvited guest? Was he cast out because of a lack of proper clothing? Or was their some other aspect that perhaps caused this one to be eternally cast out?

Too often (Imo) the "For many are called, but few are chosen" statement is absconded of the true meaning because the parable is lost in the battle between views of Calvinism and Arminianism.

What do you consider the characters of the parable represent, and why?

    "agedman,

    I will try...
22 And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,

2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,

    3 And sent forth his servants...>.....the prophets....2chr36;
15 And the Lord God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place:

16 But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

    National Israel

    jn1:
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

    Yes...lets go with that...
    No.....

    First things first.....mt10:
5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

    Follow the actual gospel records

The wedding garment is the righteousness of Christ

A self righteous works based gospel

All of the parables are related to Israel.
