Mark 2:26

    Corrected translation for KJV,
    Mark 2:26, "How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the son of the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?"

    Did you just make Abiathar the son of the high priest rather than the high priest at the time of David’s entry to eat?

    Was not Abiathar the high priest?

    I didn’t see a reason (and neither did translators apparently) to insert “the son of the high priest.”

    At least you did italic the added or clarifying words.

    Fact. Abiathar was the son of the Highpriest. Fact. When David and his men were given the bread Abarthar's father was the Highpriest who gave them the bread. 1 Samuel 21:1-9.

    Perhaps, but because the temple had many priests, and the high priest duty was somewhat passed around, I have no problem with Abiathar being the high priest and the son of Ahimelech.

    I don’t find 1 Samuel 21 reason to dispute the translator work done by other Bible translators.

    Mark in 21 verses refers to chief priests and the high priest in 8 of those verses. The high priest himself in Mark 14:53, Mark 14:60-63. And 4 of those times referring to belonging to the high priest, Mark 14:47, Mark 14:54, Mark 14:66 and Abiathar belonging to the high priest in Mark 2:26, του αρχιερεως, "of the high priest."

    None of your posts have represented Abiathar as anything less then the high priest serving at that time and Ahimelech startled at discovering David as other then one of the service priests.

    I’m not even certain that there is a father son relationship between Abiathar and Ahimelech.

    Can you cite we’re you find they are related?
