Save your lecture about being disobedient for your slave. What you say about marriage and what God says about marriage are 2 different things. I noticed that you didn't answer my question about 1 Peter 3:7. I'm sure there's a good reason why.

Whatever makes you happy. Others have tried to defend other bad doctrine on this board and failed miserably. I expect you'll do the same.

Here's a clue for you. If you assert that out of the entire nation of the United States of America, that not a single woman would follow what you consider to be Biblical, maybe it's not Biblical. Instead, you go to a country that is predominantly Catholic and whose women are known world wide for marrying men just for money and it is there that you find your slave woman. Kinda strange huh?

Not strange if you believe the Bible. The new thread is up. Have fun refuting it.

Bye to you too, and obviously not worth the piece of paper it is written on. Let me guess, a degree mill.

It would be nice, but I think only the person who posted the OP can request a close unless it is "rude, harassing, offensive, objectionable or illegal". Or words to that effect.

Come to think of it... maybe it is one or two of those.

But the there is submission and leadership.

Why must you always key in on thew negatives?

It's not abuse in any sense to expect ones wfie to follow the lead. Sometimes it takes some "explaining" to get her to "follow".

I did say to gently tell her

Well, what I am about to say will probably offend you and make me look the idiot, but I agree 100%

It was not you that I had in mind when I made the comment about physical and verbal abuse.

(Although, I heard a preacher say one time, "Throw a rock into a pack of dogs, and the one that yells is the one that got hit.”)

I am all for the leadership of the husband and the MUTUAL submission of both spouses to Christ, which is the Biblical standard. What I am NOT in favor of it the "Macho He-man" who treats his help-mate as a doormat. I was one (and still struggle with it at times) and that's why I am sensitive to the subject.

Glad to see you growing in the Lord. I agree 100% with what you just said.

I don't think anyone has actually stated theywould treat their wives like a doormat.

Our types don't. If someone asks us up front if we treated our wives wrong, we would deny it and swear everlasting love and kindness to the wife. Then go home and harass her verbally because "she told someone something that was none of their stinkin' business". Of course we did it in love and for her own good.

Believe me, it's not easy to change. Only God's grace (and wife's great patience!) is sufficient.

There is a huge difference between the man taking charge of the family, and dictatorship.

Man is not superior to the woman in any fashion. Scripture teaches equality and mutual respect. It is important to read ALL of scripture and not just the chauvenistic aspects.

    Cheers,

    Jim
