b4 MLK championed a 'cause' people stayed together as a whole family nationwide. Today the mantra is...."I HAVE MY RIGHTS" and this nation has gone left ever since!.

I lay that at the feet of the "Civil Rights Act". Check the stats for yourself.

Are you saying that families stayed together because some people were treated as second and third class citizens? And since MLK championed equality, he broke up the family/community? Or are you just just saying segregation was a good thing?

PS... This country is going to hell because it no longer values the things of God.

I would disagree with you...the timing of the disintegration of black families co-inciding with the civil rights movement does not mean causality.

If I were blaming an institution, I would probably blame the rapid growth of the welfare state more than the civil rights movement.

But we're into politics and history...rumor has it I've been wrong before in these arenas (how dare they speak those rumors).

A nation really cannot go to hell any more than it can go to heaven.

People will go to hell, but not because they demand their rights under the constitution but for their sin, which is only forgivable through the grace of Christ.

People went to hell before the Civil Rights Act as well.

I read in a article that in 1966 King recieved from Planned Parenthood a award called the Margeret Sanger award. It was like he was a big supporter of Planned Parenthood. Anyone remember anything to validate this??

Yes, but at that time Planned Parenthood had nothing to do with abortion, but rather birth control. Surely you are not trying to claim he supported abortion, of which you will find no proof. Tell me, after reading this except, what is wrong with what he is saying?

He seemed to want blacks to get involved in responsible family planning. Present day Planned Parenthood is a very immoral organization.

Well to anyone who wants to read some interesting info on the infamous Michael King. Read the Jan.19 1998 article in Newsweek . Its on pg 62. :sleeping_2:

That may be so, but what on earth does that have to do with MLK? It's not like he could see into the future and predict that 1. the SCOTUS would legalize abortions, and 2. that Planned Parenthood would be leading proponent of pro-choice organizations.

Do you have any particular problems with what he actually said about PP and family planning in the 60's?

Back to the "he changed his name so he must be evil" argument. I hope you are willing to extend this to every person who changes their name.

John Wayne was born Marion Morrison. Was he evil?

I wouldnt call MLK evil. But he wasnt the saint so many make him out to be. Point being he doesnt deserve the recognition he gets. The facts to back this up are so numerous. Problem is too few bother to look them up. They are afraid of being called a racist. I hope in the future someone of European descent with a colorful background as King's begins to get as undeserved recognition as he has. I hope the truth is exposed then as well. Why can't people concede he is'nt the saint the media makes him out to be? He certainly isnt deserving of nearly the entire country coming to a standstill.

By the way was John Wayne guilty of plagiarism? Was John Wayne a apostle of Socialism? Did John Wayne condemn Capitalism? Research the speech given in Atlanta Sept. 1967.

There are things you can count on every year like clockwork. This is one of them. Others are the Christmas threads and the Halloween threads. Same arguments same people making them.

I find it interesting that some of the same people so willing to point out MLKs flaws wanted to defend the Confederate South and its generals in the history thread.

They find flaw in MLK and Abe Lincoln, but Jackson and Lee were great guys who taught sunday school while fighting to keep slavery in the south.
