No one said they don't do some good. We are all aware of the Shriners social works within our communities.

 

Thank you for sharing Bruce. I know that God will bless you as He always does those who walk in obedience. I think of what Jesus said, and I paraphrase----that no one has given up anything for the cause of the Kingdom, who will not receive a hundred fold in this life and in the life to come.

I had one man in my church who was a mason for 45 years. After sharing with the church our biblical concerns about freemasonry, he tore up his membership card and gave it to me and he also gave me his apron, (which is now in my office) and stood and stated that he had only one Lord and His name is Jesus. It was a glorious day.

Keep the faith----be strong and courageous.

My uncle's funeral was a Masonic one. During the service a Mason read the following:

"The Lambskin Apron is an emblem of innocence and the badge of a Mason; more ancient than the Golden Fleece or the Roman Eagle, more honorable than the Star or Garter, or any distinction that can be conferred by king, prince, potentate or any other person. By it we are continually reminded of that purity of life and conduct so essentially necessary to gain admission into the Celestial Lodge above where the Supreme Grand Master of the Universe forever presides."

Is there a Mason somewhere who can explain that last sentence to me?

That is true, yet as has been pointed out here the SBC congregation can restrict membership if they wish to. Yet it is interesting to note that the Assemblies of God and the Salvation Army both have a restriction for membership in any church of their respective denominations, that you cannot be in the masons. The AOG go as far as to restrict membership for anyone that is involved in any Secret Society.

In Masonic teachings, the white apron (lambskin) is presented upon obtaining the 3rd Degree as a reminder to do good and pure things throughout life's journey. If one does this, and dies as a honorable Mason, then you will be in the Great Lodge in the sky where the Supreme being will preside. (All Masons must profess a belief in a Supreme Being). Please note that no women, old men with senility, or atheists are permitted to join a Lodge and thus can not be a part of the "Celestial Lodge".

That is a fairly simplistic explanation Ray, but I hope it answers your question.

 

I feel when reading this like an outsider hearing a bunch of comments that only people on the inside understand.
It may be a little off topic, but could someone explain shortly what this masonry is? If there is somthing wrong with masonism, perhaps the actual doctrines and beliefs should be adressed specifically...

 

Are you saying that there is a separate part of Heaven called the Celestial Lodge where only honorable Masons will be allowed? Or are you saying that the Celestial Lodge is Heaven itself and therefore only honorable Masons get into Heaven?

 

Basically Ray its saying that the Celestial Lodge will only be attended by honorable Mason who have done good in their lives. I've never heard in the Blue Lodge, York Rites, or Shriners anyone claim that the Celestial Lodge takes the place of heaven...it is a part of heaven.

 

Is this based on scripture? If so, could you tell me which one(s)?

 

The people that I know that are Masons and claim to be Christian will not answer any questions about Freemasonry. Even the ones that have left being a Mason will not explain why, or discuss anything about Masonry.

If you are a Christian and have left Masonry, would you explain why, if asked? Or would you discuss the beliefs of Masonry? If you wouldn't discuss this, why not?

 

I was a Mason, I have discussed these things, and there should be no problem discussing these things, since they are available word-for-word in various sources on the net and in print.

Many of the men who have left the lodge don't want to talk about it out of respect for friends and relatives of theirs who are still in the Lodge and feel differently.

 

I've never had a problem discussing things about Freemasonry since I left the Lodge. However Major B is correct that some won't out of respect..then some won't because of fear of being ostracized in their community.

Wow: I never thought about it that way. That is a very good point. Hats off to you, in that by not discussing it, you don't give the impression that you are bitter, angry, etc. and can maintain credibility with them.

Is it just me or did anyone else shiver when they heard Celestial Lodge? This past Sunday night our church did a special video on the Mormons guess what their highest "Heaven" it the Celestial Heaven where you can become God and start your own universe. Before this sentence I wasn't against the Masons but now.....

 

My research indicates that the Mormon church was founded by Masons, not the other way around. But there IS a connection.
