McCain volunteer assaulted with knife

I don't know about this one guys.

First off - the attacker was in no way supported by or encouraged by Barak Obama or his campaign. This is just a thug criminal. If it happened just the way the girl described.

Second - there are just a lot of warning signs here. Her story has changed quite a bit. The attacker "held her hands down" while he carved on her face. How exactly did he do that? How still was she? The B is backwards, there are ways he could have carved it backwards, or, if she did it herself while looking in a mirror. Look at her left eye in the picture, it is black but not swolen, and there is no redness in the white portion of the eye at all.

Look I hate to accuse this girl, but like I said, there are some warning signs here. I think we need more facts.

 

According to Fox News this morning, the victim's Facebook page says that "lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off". It also lists her favorite book as the Scarlet Letter. The police want her to take a polygraph.

 

I will keep her in prayer, if she calls lying fun then she needs prayer.

This is in no way addressing her guilt or innocent, just the comment she made.

 

A lot of times newsprint images get reversed, so I'm not ready to pounce on that.

But this doesn't seem right, I was highly suspect of this the minute I saw it, but will withold further comment.

 

Notice how the letter "B" is mirror imaged. If an attacked were doing that to someone that is not how they would do it. On the other hand, if someone were carving a letter into their own face that is how they would do it. I say it's a political hoax.

 

The police reviewed the ATM video and said this is all false. There was nothing on the film to support her claims.

I won't call this an attempt from the right to paint the left as bad people because I know we have these kinds on both sides. We are a nation of people...

Like I said...some of us shoot back.

 

So all of this is to counter the public's perception that the conservatives ran a nasty campaign and to counter some of the views we saw at their campaign rallies. What's bad is the first claim by a campaign worker is now said to be false. This will bring suspicion on all future claims.

I'm not implying if this was true or not but I see no reason the winning side should lash out like this? It the liberals were behind in the polls I could see this happening but what are you to gain when you're ahead?

 

The so called events at the campiagn rallies have been debunked.

 

When did that happen? That woman didn't call Obama an Arab? That scene with the man calling Obama a Muslim being chased off by McCain supporters was false? Palin didn't say Obama "pals around with terrorist"? What was debunked? The scenes with the crowd yelling to kill Obama was just staged?

 

You all seriously tried to tie remote things to mccain. But nothing like attacking someone with a knife and carving obama's inititals in a persons face.

 

So we see obama supporters are now physically attacking and harming mccain supporters, not just hitting like the guy in the video I posted last week, but cutting up a person with a knife, now really. shouldn't obama come out against this sort of thing. Well probaby not, since he told his supporters to begin getting violent when he told them to get in peoples face.

 

The story is being called into question by authorities.

Pittsburgh Woman to be Charged with Making False Report after Claiming "B" Was Carved Into Face By Mugger

(CBS/AP) A John McCain campaign volunteer made up a story of being robbed, pinned to the ground and having the letter "B" scratched on her face in a politically inspired attack, police said Friday.

Ashley Todd, 20-year-old college student from College Station, Texas, admitted Friday that the story was false, police said.

Maurita Bryant, the assistant chief of the police department's investigations division, said Todd is being charged with making a false police report.

Police doubted her story from the start, Bryant said.

"She just opened up and said she wanted to tell the truth," Bryant said, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "She was upset with the media for blowing this into a political firestorm."

Todd, who is white, initially told police she was attacked by a 6-foot-4 black man Wednesday night.

She told investigators she was attempting to use a bank branch ATM when the man approached her from behind, put a knife with a 4- to 5-inch blade to her throat and demanded money. She said she handed the assailant $60 and walked away.

Todd claimed that she suspected the man then noticed a McCain sticker on her car, became angry and punched her in the back of the head, knocking her to the ground and telling her "you are going to be a Barack supporter," police said.

She said he continued to punch and kick her while threatening "to teach her a lesson for being a McCain supporter," police said. She said he then sat on her chest, pinned her hands down with his knees and scratched a backward letter "B" into her face with a dull knife.

Todd also told police she didn't seek medical attention, but instead went to a friend's apartment nearby and called police about 45 minutes later.

On Friday, when she admitted the story was fabricated, Todd told police she believes she cut the backward "B" onto her own cheek, but she didn't explain how or why, Bryant said.

"She said she doesn't remember doing it but knows it must have been her who did it," Bryant said, according to the Tribune-Review.

Todd reportedly said she thought of Barack Obama when she saw the "B" on her cheek and minutes later "came up what a plan" to manufacture the story, according to Bryant.

She now tells investigators she was neither robbed nor attacked.

Bryant said somebody charged with making a false report would typically be cited and sent a summons. But because police have concerns about Todd's mental health, they are consulting with the Allegheny County District Attorney. She remained in custody and was awaiting arraignment.

Todd worked in New York for the College Republican National Committee before moving two weeks ago to Pennsylvania, where her duties included recruiting college students, the committee's executive director, Ethan Eilon, has said.

Eilon declined to comment on the investigation Friday or to help The Associated Press contact Todd.

Police investigating the alleged attack quickly noticed some inconsistencies in Todd's story and administered a polygraph test, CBS station KDKA reports.

Authorities declined to release the results of that test, but investigators said they received photos from the ATM machine and "the photographs were verified as not being the victim making the transaction."

Police say they do not believe any other people were involved. They said Todd's friends believed the story about the attack.

Police suspected all along that Todd might not be telling the truth, starting with the fact that the "B" was backward, Bryant said.

"We have robbers here in Pittsburgh, but they don't generally mutilate someone's face like that," Bryant said. "They just take the money and run."

As I said on another thread, you could tell it was a fake because the letter "B" was oriented as if she had cut it herself rather than an attacker.

And hopefully people will not broad brush McCain supporters as loonies.
Like you know, the way some here shamelessly broad brushed Obama supporters as violent.
I imagine this thread will not have the response as the one when we all thought it could be true.

 

Hopefully she'll get to seek help, after a few days in jail.

 

I am no Obama fan at all (he is an evil man), but it will be interesting to see it the people that ascribed the "guilt by association" to Obama, his campaign, and his supporters will ascribed it to McCain now. I'm betting that is a one way street.

 

How much did the obama campaign pay her to tell that story?
