Yeah, I guess your right, you can say anything you want, if you choose to ignore the facts. I guess we could argue that since the war was never Constitutionaly declared, that it isn't really a war, and that we are just spending all the time, money and lives for some other agenda other than a war. hmmmm.

As I said, you simply do not know this.

Just think. In the four years of WW2, America lost more than 400,000 soldiers. In the four years of Iraq, we have lost less than 1% of that number, fighting an enemy that is far more tricky.
Furthermore, with the security of Germany and Japan, the investment in WW2 lasted close to ten years, plus some forty years of occupation after that. So we are not even close yet.

Do realize that more than 700 soldiers died in a practice for D-Day? That is 4 times less than have died in Iraq, and they died in practice. To quote Allen Iverson … In practice. Failed policy? Hardly. Price of peace? Absolutely.

And now when troops are being increased, you have conveniently changed your mind. We aren’t pulling out now. And we shouldn’t.

Yeah sure … that worked well on 9/11 didn’t it?

If we are committed to American ideals, then why is this concerning?

But for some reason you insist on making dogmatic statements that you have no way of verifying. You simply do not know. And we all know that. You are guessing. And I believe you are dishonoring the lives of dead American soldiers by asking them to die for a defeat, rather than by asking the compatriots to win, and giving them the resources necessary to win. I disagree with that kind of support.

Exactly how do you gauge the relative trickiness of the German nazis, the Italian fascists, the Japanese empirialists, al Qaeda terrorists, Shi'ia insurgents & Sunni nationalists - or however you want to categorize our many diverse enemies?

    Hmmm.....

==If this was WWII or WWIII I would say that is good news, but this is not either of those. This is a war that should not have taken this long.

==Saddam was boxed in, he was no threat to the United States, the smart thing to do would have been to left him there and boxed him in more. Maybe some air strikes (etc) but there was no need for a full-scale invasion of Iraq. Bush's war is not the price of peace, it is the price we are paying for a president's foolish decisions.

I am sorry I ever voted for Bush and I grieve that I ever supported his war in Iraq.

==It's too late. Bush had his chance, the day of grace has passed as far as I am concerned. Bush should have put more troops in there from the start and then, maybe, we would not be in this mess. I suppose one could argue better late then never and maybe I would were it not for 3,000 plus dead American soldiers.

    I SAID:
That idea sounds nice but it is hardly conservative. It is big government liberalism. We protect ourselves by building our homeland security. We don't secure ourselves by being the world's police.

==We did not have good homeland security on 9/11. Have you ever read the 9/11 report?

==I am responding to your assertion that we can go around the world spreading democracy and win people's support/friendship. Don't forget the context of these remarks.

==The fact that after four years, and over 3000 dead American soldiers later, Baghdad is still not secure is verification of everything I have said about this administration.

==I am going to ignore the first part of that statement since it comes straight from the pro-Bush talking points book. The best way to support the troops is to bring them home to stop asking them to die for Bush's mistake.

Note that those military forces are still in Japan after
    over SIXTY YEARS.

Here is how victory in Iraq looks:

Continous occupation of Iraq for 4 sixty years.

Here is how loosing in Iraq looks:

No movement about the country without
pre-approval of the trip by Homeland Security.

Reread Pastor Larry's post and I think you will see he did answer your question. In todays world our best defense is building democracies in stratigic areas, like Iraq. If the Mid-East terrorists didn't have our military as a target they would be targeting civilians on our homeland. Our military is much better equipped to take care of their sorry fannies than we civilians.

That day is coming anyway sooner or later, whether our military is in Iraq or at home. Haven't you heard - the jihadists in every country have declared war on us and there are plenty of jihadists sitting in our communities here in the USA.....waiting.....This is the Third Jihad.

By their use of unconventional and unethical tactics, such as targeting civilians, using car bombs, and the like.

It is being fought in a different way.

Air strikes weren't working, and the intelligence did not confirm that he was a lack of a threat. You can't run a war by hindsight.

No, it's not. It seems rather an attack on the armed forces who aren't getting the job done for whatever reason. Bush is not the one laying out teh plans for security of Baghdad. The president doesn't involve himself in day to day tactical decisions.

I have never seen it or heard it anywhere else to my knowledge. But if you are correct, that doesnt change the truth of it.

So they can come home defeated? Unable to win because of political games being played? I disagree. We tried that in Vietnam and it took years for those veterans to recover in some cases.

This post I can agree with. The idea of taking the war to the terrorists is one that we must continue to do. They are bound and determined to get to our country again. Iraq at the start was a different issue. It was about the facade of weapons of mass destruction, and mission accomplished. Iraq has evolved to a breeding ground for terrorism, so, from a monster of our own creation, we are forced to stay.

The troops are doing a wonderful job. They deserve our full support and any equipment and money they need to do the job.

It is not the military's fault that we have an inept President and Vice President that have not a clue how to execute a war. As one poster stated above, I also voted twice for these pair of clowns. It is my prayer that these troops receive divine protection from God, and that he will resolve that issue soon so they can get back to their families. We can never repay the debt of trying to protect us from those who want us and our way of life dead.

America will pay a heavy price come November 2008. Because of the lack of leadership and common sense of the present administration, we will be faced with a continuing war on terror lead by a democratic President. It is time for Congress to stop playing games with the war. Either vote to cut off the funding, or use your Constitutional powers to declare war on terrorist states. This non binding nonsense is a waste of time and our tax dollars.

As long as good ole W. is in office, the soldiers will not leave Iraq until W gets hold of the oil. I hate to say this because I know there are some people in here who like him, but until he leaves after the next election, our troops will remain in harms' way! Take care and May God Bless!!
