How does your local church support missions?
Is the amount for a certain missionary A) part of the church budget
or B) is expected that support for that missionary be provided by church
members over and above their regular "tithe"

If your church does the "B" option - what happens a member stops attending or even
stops his portion of the offering for "his" missionary.

If your church does the "A" option - how often does your church reevaluate the amount
    you support the missionary.

If you are a SBC church, does your church support any non-SBC missionaries?

    Other thoughts?

We have what is sort of a combination of your A and B. We designate a certain amount per month for certain missionaries and the church members may add to this or designate support for other missionaries we endorse.
When the pastor brings up the subject to the congregation.
We're not SBC, so this doesn't apply to us. But re the general principle, we look at the faith and practice of the missionary and his sending church rather than looking for a particular affiliation.

Our church is cheap and stingy. They used to do option a. Now its b. The pastor loves to preach on the tithe, but he looked at me like I was a space alien when I said the church should give a tenth of gross offering to missions.

We use option A with the proviso of "Designated offerings" for giving
over and above the budgeted amount to a particular missionary or project.
    to an unbudgeted missionary.
The amounts budgeted are decided during the annual budget process.

We are SBC, so it is part of our budget. We give a total of 6% of our total intake to the missions work of the SBC. Then we give above that based on individual leading to Lottie Moon and Annie Armstrong. On top of that we give to missions trips within our church.

The church I pastored in San Diego for 27 years did both.

We tithed on the General Fund and we also did a "Faith" Missions Giving.

We supported 28 missionaries either in whole or in part.

Those sent from our own congregation we supported fully as they raised outside support. Church planters, here in the US, we supported 100% until their new church works could fully support them. As their giving went up our support went down by a similar amount. Until they were completely self-supporting.

Our church has, since its inception been a mission giving church. We chartered in 2000 and in February of 2001 we took on our first four missionaries. We have a Missions Conference every year challenging our people with supporting missions around the world through offerings above the tithe. We have taken on new missionaries every year and the Faith Promise Giving has met the needs of the missionaries. If our designated giving has a shortfall we do not cut the missionaries but simply take the amount out of our general fund. This does not happen much and we have never cut any mission giving in these seventeen years. God has blessed our missionary support and we paid off our first building project in ten years and are now in the midst of our next project. God blesses missions.
