Do the men get to interact in a real Bible study either?

God did not instruct us on "methods of Bible study." He gave us the brains to decide what methods to use. He didn't tell us if men and women could sit in the same room while doing Bible study.

He told us to study His word. Full stop.

Not that I know of, why? I don't know of any teaching regarding gender issues in the study of the Bible anywhere.

Not exactly "full stop." He did tell other things like who is allowed to teach and the like. We should be careful about reductionism.

Unless there is a scriptural reason to go out of our way to physically separate from our spouses, then I can't see where scriptural support would be needed to do what we always do. To study the bible together

By default, men and women remain together.

I don't have an issue with that, but I would point out that you did not give a biblical reason. I would make the point that neither way is right or wrong, and both can and should be used effectively in the ministry of the word.

When I lead Bible studies I try and observe who is making the comments. If most of the comments are by men then I might ask about what the women think. If someone does a lot of the talking I will ask if there are comments from someone who has not spoken.

When I lead the study I never ask "What does it mean to you." That can lead to all kind of Share Your Ignorance (SYI) comments. I ask what does the text teach. New people are usually surprised because people spend some time looking at the text first before they say anything. It is an effort to eliminate talk that is not a result of studying and to direct the attention to the text of scripture. In every study that is in a home or people know about it in advance I give them homework to do during the week in preparation for the Bible study meeting. Each week they are to share something from what they read during the week and attempt to have the lesson prepared. At first some people need a lot of help in preparation while others do not. So I tell people to attempt to all they can and then come and we will discuss the study. It seems to have worked well over the years.

I have only been in maybe 2 "men only" bible studies in my 2 decades of being a christian.

I had an overwhelming feeling of "weirdness" during both of them, and got very little out of either of them as a result of the weirdness factor.

I kept thinking...where are the women? Why on earth are they not here? We dont have 2 bodies of Christ. A "mens" body of Christ and a "womens" body of Christ.

No. We have ONE body of Christ...men and women, young and old.. We are all gifted in different ways, and all have something to offer.

So...why are half of them not here?

During those gatherings I kept thinking....why are half of the ones who should be here...not here?

I decline any classes where its just men. It doesnt make an ounce of sense to me.

Of course...these comments dont apply to bible studies that have specific "mens" or "womens" topics. There are times when those are of course proper.

Now, listen! I didn't say I was one of the women who kept quiet. I'm just the opposite.

Sometimes I'm made to feel like I should be quiet in a mixed group, and when I'm not, I get weird looks, so I'd just as soon be in a separated group.

Regardless of the above, I will talk no matter what kind of group I'm in. :godisgood:

If that is the case then think of how many men would be in better shape by losing weight if they had to cook.
