Joe, when what shows on top and what shows on bottom is only separated by what might be termed a wide belt, the lady is dressing to provoke lust.

When the blouse is sheer, the divide deep, and the pants or skirt showing every bit of every curve, the lady is dressing to provoke lust.

Why do you think the prostitutes dress they way they do on street corners?

Why do you think Britney Spears......never mind.....

So now the conversation includes Hollywood celebrities with IQ's in the negative factor????

Just a joke there, Sister Helen

Honest to goodness I can say without hesitation that my wife of 18---I mean, 19 years can serve as a example of modest dress----if a lady wants to know what to wear to church---just ask my wife---grocery shopping???---ask my wife!!!

I once teased her that she wouldn't go outside to check the mail in the mailbox without some sort of makeup on --- jeans, tshirt and tennis shoes on

My wife is a knockout in anything she wears!!!

Thanks for the attempt. Something concrete, and something I hadn't heard of.

Imho, prostitutes on street corners don't wear what you described. It's much racier. Their skirts are much shorter, they wear heals and bright lipstick. They don't compare to the dress you describe above, that is more of an accepted dress attire.

You obviously dress very modest. Good.

I can't say that what you described is deemed immodest, especially since I have a few half shirts which show more than a belt size of flesh but whatever. They match my sweat pants and are usually worn at home yet I have needed to run to the store at times. Maybe that's the female attire guideline so I'm safe.

I thought we were talking more in the context of church folks.

Yes, beaches are an hour and 1/2 away. We go once-twice a year and stay at a Hostel which has a private beach. Hostel people do not dress immodest usually, and drinking and smoking is not allowed on the grounds.
We do not go to the public beaches due to these "bathing suits" If I wanted to see that, I could save a trip and order Playboy. It's about the same, no joke.
In this situation, yes, some are trying to intice men.
Imho, the more normal attire Helen describes does not necessarily equal someone inticing the opposite sex. I hoped people weren't being labeled unnecessarily, especially if they enter the church. It's hard enough to become involved in a foreign environment, then to have the church label you a harlot due to dress attire, it becomes almost impossible.

Back to the topic, I hope others reply.

    Have a great weekend :)

I agree that if a man is going to lust, it really does NOT matter what a woman wears.

I took a poll from the men in my life and a 'just below the knee' skirt with heels gets them going much faster than a pair of loose jeans and a baggy sweatshirt.

So regardless of what a woman wears....if a man lusts after her....who is commiting the sin?

The man, but the woman could also be committing sin depending upon what she wore, and her level of maturity.

    I agree, kind of.

It's a sin to lust. But, why would someone want to tempt others to lust?

I say wear long dresses and loose tops. Not too loose you don't want them to fall off. :tongue3:

    Annsi,

Women/girls can dress appropriately in dresses, and inappropriately in dresses. They can dress appropriately in pants and inappropriately in pants.

As far as I'm concerned it doesnt make an ounce of difference whether its a dress or pants. (and I dont think it makes an ounce of difference to God either)

Appropriate is appropriate, and inappropriate is inappropriate.

    God bless,

    Mike

A lot of it has to do with various women's "Taste" in clothes

    Here's Blackbird's "Bird's Eye" on the subject --- sorta Do's & Don'ts of dressing

Don't try to get into a pair of "Corvette" jeans with a "Mack" truck body

3" heels are forbidden in EE width --- sorry, Ladies!!! Blackbird makes the rules around here!!!!

Do keep Spare tire hidden behind proper sized blouse

Do do somethin' with the exercise bicycle besides a makeshift clothes hanger!!!

On and on we go --- where we stop nobody knows!!!

Blackbird, you wait until your wife reads your do's and dont's
What guidelines you have for females.
    Now about that............Oh, never mind....

It's nice men don't have to worry about these kinds of things. We wear whatever we want and it's accepted by all :)

Oh - but wait!! There's more!!!

Men should not go without a shirt on OR wear a shirt that has no sleeves.

Men should not wear jeans - it shows off too much. They need to wear loose slacks.

    AND.....biking shorts are a DEFINITE no-no!!

Hmm - that gives me a hint to your age. LOL - When I used to do bike trips with Youth for Christ in the early 80s, bike shorts were SO not in style and here I'd come back from biking 500 miles and have a biker's tan! YIKES!!
