Al Mohler recommends the ESV, the NASB, and the HCSB. I own the HCSB and the ESV study Bible. So what's YOUR top 3?

Man, if you ever pick up a Mormon hitchiker, and he leaves his books in your truck, you'll be in trouble. :D :D

Did Dr.Mohler rank them that way?I thought he would place the HCSB in first place.

This won't surprise anyone. The TNIV is my first choice. The NLTse and HCSB run kind of neck-and-neck.I can't definitively place the #2 spot.I don't own a copy of the NET Bible but refer to it quite often on-line.So I guess that qualifies as my third choice.

I'll see how the completed ISV might mess up my current rankings.

    NKJV
    HCSB
    KJV
    NIV
    ESV

in that order but I am liking my HCSB better every day.

OK, I've tried to fix those twice and they keep converting to lowercase letters . . .

    Trying in new post:

    NASB
    TNIV
    NLT

I'll take a stab - these are the ones I use for my personal study and stuff online:

    1) ESV
    2) KJV
    3) NASB

    #4 would be NIV. :)

King James Version (Grew Up With It)
    English Standard Version
    TNIV

I am a Fellowship of Christian Athletes sponsor at the high school I teach/coach at, and Holman Christian Standard is the scripture that FCA uses, so I am very familiar with it.

He didn't necessarily say this was the rank, but he listed them in the order of ESV, NASB, then HCSB. Because he likes the most literal translation, I would say the HCSB is the lowest of his favorites as the ESV and NASB are a little more literal.

    With apologies to Keith --

The ALT is my current favorite MT-based New Testament.

The NET is my current favorite CT-based New Testament; the MLB is a close second.

The KJV3 (J. Green) is my current favorite TR-based New Testament; the People's New Testament seems to be a close second.

The CLV is my current favorite other Greek-based New Testament.
The NCV is my current favorite simplified English version of the New Testament.
The NETS is my current favorite LXX-based Old Testament.
The JPS (Tanakh) is my current favorite exclusively MT-based Old Testament.

Darby's is my current favorite 'literal' translation of both Testaments; Young's is a close second.

For some reason, the board software won't let me post the version names in all caps unless I type something else... so that's why you have this sentence.

Apparently Plain Old Bill is not the only 'math whiz' on the BB, when it comes to counting to "3".

    As of today,

    HCSB
    NASBu
    NIV

Number three subject to change from day to day.

The NASB was my main Bible for several years, but the more I have read the CSB, it has grown to become my primary Bible.
