    Anybody else witness this filth??

Unless I contract Alzheimer's and not know what I'm doing---I will never, ever watch another NFL game on television---so long as I live!

I thought it was stupid and out of place. It was a blatant appeal to sexuality to promote another ABC program. It was wrong. But it really wasn't worse than most other stuff that is on TV (which isn't raising the bar very high, I know). It capitalized on a stereotype about sex ...

I don't think the NFL knew about it. Turns out the game was so good everyone forgot about it ... Oh wait, I guess not ...

But when every commercial break includes something about Cialis or Viagra, or Victoria's Secret, or some such thing, there is not a lot of room to complain about this.

It was stupid and out of place and should have never happened. But it isn't the worst thing to happen, and won't be the last.

Considering how they kicked off Monday Night Football this year, the incident doesn't surprise me. I remember thinking at the beginning of the season that they are trying to appeal to a market that I do not belong to. A few years ago, I switched my cable to a reception-only package (9.99 a month, then). I could not chance the filth that my kids could get into watching the cable channels. The networks are showing the same filth now, so I can just imagine what the cable channels are doing. I believe that the time is long past for me to just turn off the TV altogether. I can get local sports (Ravens and Orioles) on the radio, and I already get the news from radio. High School football on Friday nights, and maybe a few local college games (i.e, Navy) on Saturday will also help to satisfy the need "to feed the beast". I love football, but I agree with blackbird, the time has come for me to re-evaluate just where I want to stand.

The networks are run by filthy pigs. So, when you turn on their channels, expect a flood of pig manure. Too bad.

    Now---I'm finished with the NFL

But would still like to see the "Fishin'" shows---though they are all on the cable/satelite systems and I ain't gettin' that no time soon---what tv I watch---I have "Rabbit Ears" antenna---and only one channel comes in clear from Jackson----55 miles away!! ABC----but "Ichabod" is written all over their Monday Nite Football--as well as all the other trash they show---which doesn't leave much for me to watch!

Funny - I was going to post about how sports has been used to sell sex and vice versa for a long time, this is nothing new. I was going to talk about NFL cheerleaders and all that, but thought better of it ;) .

We didn't, Bro. David, because Jim only flicks back and forth to sports now. He's been disgusted for years with the cheerleaders and commercials, language of some players...

I find it sad. My husband loves sports but feels he cannot watch most of them because they bring the filth of the world right into our t.v. room. :(

I have always watched sports and will continue to do so. I'm not going to allow people who misuse the airwaves to determine what I can enjoy. [IMG]

I've been trying to think of something to say! I haven't watched a whole NFL game yet this year - too busy watching NASCAR!

I suppose I could watch soccor - but I think one of those ladies on team USA ruined it a few years ago by taking off her shirt!

Just saw the rerun. Don't think there would be nearly the stir over it (hey, it was tame compared to "Desperate Houswives").

But if flew in the face of almost all "white" America. Beautiful white girls naked with a big Black jock? That is about as gross and offensive to most white males (and females) as anything you could do.

If it were a beautiful Black woman? Not near the stir. If it were a White ball player (there are still a few in the NFL, right?) and White gal, not as big a stink up.

Just my thoughts. We are talking racism, not partial nudity.

The hype and ads don't affect the GAME. I'm interested in the GAME, not the hype or post-game yak.

I have to go with you on this one. When I go to football games at my alma mater there are always annoying drunk kids who think they can't go to a game without being trashed. I'm pretty good about tuning them out unless there are small children around then I get a little flustered.

Any time you turn on the TV to ABC, NBC, CBS, or FOX, you're opening a sewer pipe through which the dirtballs who run the networks will pour filth into your house.

You can choose a "good" program, such as a sporting event, but they will use the commercial time to advertize their prime time programming that is not fit for hogs.

Jim - my kids are going to "surprise" me with Tivo for Christmas. They say it can be programmed to zip past all commericals (not like fast forwarding a tape, but like skipping to a new track on a cd).

Anyone know if this works? I agree that the game is enjoyable but the commercials for "Desperate Housewives" is lurid and titalating.

What about what happened at the Super Bowl last year with Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake? Remember the clothing "malfunction"?
Something like that is bound to happen if MTV is in charge!
