Can anyone give me any feed back on this college? I'm thinking of taking some online courses with them.

I had visited there many years ago and found them to rub shoulderes with the liberal believers. Moody is modern in belief, separation and music. They are not IFB by any means. They have a huge outreach in their radio ministry, but their stands are far from what DL Moody had preached in his day. They are christian, if that means anything.

Can you give me some specifics regarding how they rub shoulders with the liberals?

Moody Bible Institute has stood for truth down through the years, and has equipped more missionaries than any other college. I have not seen anything liberal in their teaching from a theological viewpoint.

They have an excellent correspondence study program. I have taken a few courses just as refreshers, and found them sound...perhaps a little off on eschatology, but I am used to that from many USA colleges.

    Cheers, and good studies,

    Jim

Moody is not baptist, not fundamental, and their college has little in the way of standards or separation. Its heritage is far grander than the present reality.

No ifb'ers have supported Moody since 1960.

THAT SAID, they have wonderful publications and some excellent profs. Know many who have taken correspondence course work and it is first quality.

As long as one knows what one is getting into . . .

    Hi,
I have taken a few of their correspondence courses. And if you are already grounded in the Word you will recognize error. But, I can say that I have learned alot from my Moody courses. The ones I have taken cause you to study the Word and the instructors are very helpful.

By the churches who associate with them. The music they present is contemporary, which appeals to the more liberal crowd. They have a "sit on the fence" stand for speaking in tongues. they say they don't allow it because it's unbiblical, but in the same breath tell the students that they don't believe that it's not possible for tongues, and tell them just not to use tongues while on campus. They lean toward ecumenicalisn: Quote:INSTITUTIONAL POSITIONS IN ADDITION TO ELABORATION OF
THE MOODY BIBLE INSTITUTE DOCTRINAL STATEMENT (1928)
In addition to distinctives derived from a historic understanding of the 1928 Doctrinal
Statement, the Moody Bible Institute has historically been identified with the positions
outlined below. Although trustees, education administrators, and faculty are expected to
hold these positions, we recognize that we serve and minister with others whose traditions
    differ on these subjects.

Everything I've ever heard about them has been excellent and I knew a girl in one of my old churches who went there and loved it.

Don't pick a place simply on whether or not it's Baptist or IFB.

There are a ton of good Christian colleges that are neither.

My husband and I both took courses there back in the early 1980's and one course book did have some remarks/ thoughts that went against my SBC beliefs but as a grounded Christian... I ignored those teachings and learned quite a bit.

Always, always... keep your Bible open and by your books when reading any author or study! Holy Scripture is the ONLY authority!

    quoted by TheOliveBranch;

I take it you have never listened to their "Music Thru The Night" program. You will not find five hours of more "traditional" music anywhere on the radio. Granted, it's produced by Moody Radio, not the school per se, but it's all under the same umbrella.

I have found that their music is a blend of both contemporary and traditional, which appeals to this fundamentalist.

    God Bless!!!

I forgot to mention their grading system is different from other universities. They require much higher number grades than others. For instance, in order to achieve an A I believe your average must be 95%. And a B is 87%.
