Oh, you forgot to mention that it went back that far, I must have missed that chapter and verse in my Bible. So are you saying Eve cut her hair because the serpent deceived her into doing so?

If you are so adamant about wearing a head covering because you think it is the scriptural thing to do, why not keep your arguments for doing so scriptural?

At the inner-city school where I teach, the kids are into corn rows, and jeri-curls, and dreadlocks, and "sk8r boi" cuts (cultural education is soooo nice...). I tell them that hair is very simple for me. In the morning, I go on an expedition to find it--if I find enough of it, I comb it and come on to school.

You asked for documentation to prove that the feminists were the first to cut their hair off. I gave you some.

The you claim that there is no word called feminist in the Bible. There is also no word abortion in the Bible. But, that too is a sin. Feminism is a modern word for an old sin. Eve was the first feminist.

I wear a headship veiling based upon 1 Corinthians 11:1-16. I also do not like to give the appearance of evil by appearing as a feminist, in any way shape or form. I know where the trends came from and I stay far away from them. They are not good for me.

If you feel you have trapped me that is fine. Can I go another mile with you?

Headcoveredlady, I'm curious as to what your definition of feminist is.

I can see that some are sickering at this subject and saying it is not important. But it is, otherwise just rip it out of your bible.

Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

You gave me a link to a book that I do not intend to buy and a link to an article on hairstyles. The link never stated feminists were the first ones to cut their hair.

There is a clinical definition of abortion that ends the life of a baby. The definition of abortion is not subjective, the definition of feminist is. It is a man made label that was used to cause dissention. Christ called sin for what is was, he didn't "label" certain sects of sinners. If you think not covering your head is a sin, then by all means share that, but you can not label all women who cut their hair with everyone else. Feminist has a label that will carry different ideas with it to different people, some will think this means a women is pro-abortion. I do not think it is christian of you to label ALL women with short hair having something in common with women who believe babies can be killed if they are still in the womb. It is NOT a biblical comparison and there is no scriptural example to make one.

So you cover your head and give the appearance of the evil pagan women who cover their heads and are Islamic or some other pagan religion? If this is our basis we can never go out in public because someone evil is doing the same thing with their hair as I am!! This is madness!

We are merely keeping this passage in context with the rest of scripture where Paul tells us we are free in Christ. Paul just got finished stating these words.

Paul would be contradicting himself if in one paragraph he said what foods we eat or drink no longer matter because we are free in Christ and then say "but it does matter what we wear on our head". To say ALL things are permissable, then turn around and say that something is NOT permissable is a grave contradiction, one that Paul did not make. It was, however, beneficial for a woman to cover her head in that culture and Paul was addressing this fact.

To the gentleman who asked me what my definition of a feminist is:

A feminist is one who usurps authority from men.

So a woman who cuts her hair is usurping the man's authority?
Tell me how that is. And do you have any scripture to back it up?

And that is why I've asked how we use the word "authority," and I think we've had questions about the use of "usurp," too.

By your definition, HCL, I am no feminist.

Jailminister, let's get something correct first... You just broke a BB rule. Bible versions are not to be discussed except under that thread/ board.

So what is someone who recognizes that neither God nor anyone else uses our reproductive anatomy to determine our role in society? (Other that right, obviously :D )

Jailminister, If you did not break a BB rule, then why is your post GONE? Feel free to take that discussion to the proper thread but it's not allowed HERE.

    HAIR

    - by Gerome Ragni and James Rado

    She asks me why
    I'm just a hairy guy
    I'm hairy noon and night
    Hair that's a fright
    I'm hairy high and low
    Don't ask me why
    Don't know
It's not for lack of bread
    Like the Grateful Dead
    Darling

    Gimme head with hair
    Long beautiful hair
    Shining, gleaming,
    Streaming, flaxen, waxen

Give me down to there hair
    Shoulder length or longer
    Here baby, there mama
    Everywhere daddy daddy

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
    Flow it, show it
Long as God can grow it
    My hair

Let it fly in the breeze
And get caught in the trees
Give a home to the fleas in my hair
    A home for fleas
    A hive for bees
    A nest for birds
    There ain't no words
For the beauty, the splendor, the wonder
    Of my...

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
    Flow it, show it
Long as God can grow it
    My hair

I want it long, straight, curly, fuzzy
    Snaggy, shaggy, ratty, matty
    Oily, greasy, fleecy
    Shining, gleaming, streaming
    Flaxen, waxen
    Knotted, polka-dotted
    Twisted, beaded, braided
    Powdered, flowered, and confettied
    Bangled, tangled, spangled, and spaghettied!

    Oh say can you see
    My eyes if you can
    Then my hair's too short

    Down to here
    Down to there
    Down to where
    It stops by itself

They'll be ga ga at the go go
When they see me in my toga
    My toga made of blond
    Brilliantined
    Biblical hair

My hair like Jesus wore it
    Hallelujah I adore it
    Hallelujah Mary loved her son
Why don't my mother love me?

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
    Flow it, show it
Long as God can grow it
My hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
    Flow it, show it
Long as God can grow it
    My hair

Hummm...ya reckon there could be extremes?
