I can't get this link to work, but I choose to put some weight to what a Representative in the Congress who is a 37 year veteran of the marine corp says. You can do what you are currently doing; believing anything that makes any democrat look bad. Of course, as a "pastor" I would expect at least fair treatment, but obviously this is not the case. Too bad!

So if we found a Vietnam Vet of the Marine Corps who disagrees with Murtha, you would then, for the sake of fair treatment, also put some weight to what he says also, or would you then brand him a political hack?

Something is telling me that you are not so noble to be lecturing others on what you expect.

It would be unfair to lump all democrats into the same catagory as the Left wing nut jobs that hate Bush, our military, justice, and patriotism. Because the truth be known Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, and Nancy Pelosie are not representative of the Democratic party as a whole. I am surrounded by many democrats as this community has been largely Democrat for all its history. But they are old school Democrats and while they do not like some of Bushs policies you wont find them gunning for our soldiers. And they despise those who do.

So to have an opposite view which does not lend to give credit to communist ideas is to be unfair. Well to bad.

You're a fine one to accuse other of "not being so noble." After all the smart a** things and the continual blaming everything on "liberals" that you do, you need to learn to keep your mouth shut on this issue. It seems that a Democrat just cannot win with you. I guess that is just part of being Joseph Botwinick (shudder the thought).

    Now Terry,

That is just not true and you know it. I have great respect and admiration for Democrats in history such as FDR, JFK, and Scoop Jackson. Some more recent Democrat greats would be men like Zell Miller, Joe Lieberman, and even Ed Koch has some good points about him. As for liberals, I can find common ground with liberals such as Alan Dershowitz, Dick Morris, and Ed Koch. Further, if you have paid any attention at all in the past year or so, you will know that I have been very critical of Bush and other Republicans because of their wrong headed policies on immigration and education. You see, unlike the looney left, I am open to agreeing with others even if we don't agree on everything. If your party would take a more centrist view like me, they would actually win elections.

I would give him more credence that I would one individual soldier. In either case it does not mean the the retired marine would necessarily be correct, just that his opinion would carry more weight with me.

The motives of politicians are usually easy to discern. They rarely do anything without considering the political ramifications.

To test the truth of your assertion about democrats, find me a Republican as mouthy as Murtha and watch the fireworks.;)

I see. What if he were a decorated war hero (He was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star for valor, and two Purple Hearts for wounds in combat), and the current soldier who is presently on the battlefield was the one who was against the war? Would that change your opinion of who would get more brownie points for credence?

    Carpro,

How dare you force MP to stay on topic when he is losing the debate.

That was not what I was saying, carpro. I was responding to your comment below, which was not about the troops:

So Joseph, exactly what debate am I losing? I wasn't aware I was involved in a debate at all! :)

If it were me, I would have said Ann Coulter. Now there is a mouthy Republican. She is the GOP version of Michael Moore.

    Dissimulation doesn't become you.

The entire subject of the thread is Murtha's derogatory comments about the Marines.

    Try to keep up.;)

:sleeping_2:Oh, okay! I'll try to do the best my poor little self can do, Mr. Carpro!

BTW, to accuse me of dissimulation is wrong. I was sincerely & directly replying to the post I quoted, not the context of the entire thread.

Joseph, I'm not sure exactly where you are going with this, but I feel like I'm being set up for something. In the end, however, I would listen to both and take into consideration what other sources say, and then there is my own viewpoint. I would attempt to assimilate all this information and come to some conclusion.
