Of course "it" was "accidental"

Too bad Drudge felt the need to show us the close-up, which apparently (from the 'pasty thing' on her breast)was planned. Almost all of the music was AWFUL...that's why I muted the halftime show, and didn't watch the pre-game portion. I was on the phone (with the mute button on)at halftime, and when the moment came, I said, "did I see what I think I've seen?" Apparently I did. I would hope that the NFL would come up with better entertainment next year. PLEASE don't allow Aerosmith back (weren't they grating on the ears?), Kid Rock or any of the Jacksons.

I stayed at home where we don't have TV and wrote a paper on Adult Catechesis in the Christian Community on my laptop curled up on our comfy sofa with an ice-cold Rolling Rock. ;)

I didn't see the game, or the show, but heard about it on the news this morning.

I was busy from 11 am to 9 pm yesterday delivering pizza to people watching it.

I think I did better than they did.

I made $134 in tips, from 28 houses.

You do the math [IMG]

That's not a pasty... that's a piercing and decorative ring.

I wish I didn't know...

I suspect it might actually have been an accident. Timberlake may have been trying improvise and decided to spin her toward him for the final 'pose'.

I don't think it was an accident, but I don't think it was staged either. I think it was one of those "wouldn't it be funny if..." things, which turned out to be not funny. Since her nipple was intentionally covered, you'd think she had an idea that would happen.

Still, what concerns me more is that we're all spending so much time talking about it. The networks can show a Steven Segall movie abundant with violence, blood and gore, without a peep, but 1 second of breast and we all go wild.

My wife is hard of hearing, thus we have the "captioning" option turned on. While you might have not been able to hear it directly, when you see the words of the lyrics, ypu will be appalled!

The "accident" we did not notice, the camera apparently moved away quickly, but the lyrics was a shocker.

Tagablu, <spelling?> the commissioner, vowed this group will not participate next year.

We will see...

God bless,

I don't really think the ripping off of her clothes is the biggest issue. The very song that they were singing, saying "I better get you naked by the end of this song" is reason enough for Christians to flood the NFL with emails.

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

They appologized for the act but listened to the production rehersals and somehow felt this song was okay to pump in to american homes. Glad I missed it.

Blessings

It wasn't covered John, there was a deco around it. Big difference legally. They'd HAVE to claim it was an accident or there's consequences to the performance.

I'll have to take your word for it, Gina. I wasn't looking all that close, and, well, I'd rather not go back and check it out. [IMG]

Most of us are unaware of any Stephen Segall (who is he?) movie, because we do not watch that kind of stuff. Many innocent people sat down yesterday to watch a game with the family, and this is what they got.

My daughter called me in a rage a couple hours ago, because while I had sat in another room with my granddaughter, watching movies and knowing nothing about what was going on with the game, my grandson sat in the living room watching the game, and I did not stop him. I have seen and heard her anger at others but this is the first time I have felt her outrage toward me.

I knew nothing about all this until later, when I got on the Internet. I called her this morning to apologize about what I had learned, and this after noon, after a long seethe, she called me and vented her rage. After trying to explain while she would not listen, I kept quiet, telling her that she should call me later, when she would be able to talk to me in calm.

Since then, I have become completely outraged. I am so angry that my rage is barely controlled. My inclination is to put a fist through something, and this is completely unlike me. In fact, I lost control for a moment and slammed a pot of oatmeal on the burner of my stove. Cleaning the result up did not even calm me. My pulse is absolutely pounding, and I just ate half a bag of chips.

When we allow a little to get by, we will soon allow more and more. A little bad language on TV has brought us to the point at which PG movies contain trash that was once rightly outlawed on TV, and such lyrics as yesterday's are somehow acceptable. A little passionate kissing has brought about such sexual dancing as was on halftime. It wasn't just Janet's top and the lyrics, it was the singers' vulgar dancing as well.

If we are not outraged at what happened, shame on us.

All day long, this has been talked about...everywhere! I'm glad I gave up tv years ago, but still I know. [IMG]

We took our anti-Mardi Gras signs to the streets Saturday & one man asked "does God hate the SuperBowl?"...

Guess he knows the answer now.

With all this going on, I decided to ask my teen age grandchildren if they watched the super bowl.
They watched it at the teen center at the First Baptist Church and their leaders did not allow them to watch the half time show because of previews and reviews of the half time show.

Praise God for Christian leaders for our youth.

But 16 year old grandson, said he heard all about it all day at school.

Timberlake tore off too much of the costume... She was supposed to remain (less) covered. It was a last minute add-on to the performance.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/02/02/superbowl.jackson/index.html

I had the sound off during that time and largely ignored what was on the screen. I had just come back to my seat to watch the start of the second half when I saw far more of Ms. Jackson than I ever wanted to see.
 :(

Hi yall,
Been a long time since i have posted, been really busy the past 7 months.

Personally I think people are making to big a deal out of what happened. Personally I am willing to give them the benifit of the doubt and assume that it was an equipment malfunction. Besides it flashed so quick that if you weren't paying close attention you would have missed it. I remember thinking is what just happened what I thought i saw happen.

Musically I thought it was a waste of stage space except for Kid Rock. I would have much preferred Creed or POD to Pdiddy and Nelly. I did remark to my wife that I like Weird Al's version of Nelly's song much better.

It is my opinion, thus very true :), that we have shoft-shoe danced around too many of these public figures, giving them the benefit of the doubt, while they have taken the media, schools, etc., to you-know-where in their proverbial hand-basket.

We gave radio the "benefit of the doubt" when they first allowed slang. We gave TV the "benefit of the doubt" when they allowed bedroom scenes with fairly-fast breakaways or with skies-full of bursting fireworks. We gave a few bad-boys-of-music the "benefit of the doubt" when the rest of the sound waves were occupied by "better" music. Where has it gotten us?

No. Our Lord called sin "sin," and we should do no less.

What I'm angry about is that the greatest super bowl game I ever saw was completely upstaged by talentless teenage idols with no respect for family or morality.

I agree with Mr. Putnam, the lyrics of the song were enough to be ashamed, but the actions ?

Like I said in another forum, this is impossible to defend.

Clearly, you must not have seen the first half ( [IMG] ). Now the second half, well, there I'd agree with you.

In all seriousness, I'm more concerned with the fact that we're all still talking about it. Folks, write your complain letters, and send your complaint emails. Then, let it go. It's not worthy of our time.
