Do you consider a multi campus church a local church.

By multi campus, I understand there are two variations:

    1) the satellite "churches" view the main church via closed circuit/satellite TV

    2) the satellite "church" is just a geographical extension of the mother church but have their own pastor who (normally preaches)

A third way is the Pastor shuttles between the campuses:

    J. Frank Norris:

    Dr. Ronnie Floyd:

If a church becomes a franchising outfit, with 'The Senior Pastor' refusing to allow those congregations independence, that's not local church, that's an episcopacy.

In our case, I'd say each of the individual campuses are their "local church". Our local church had to close today since where we meet was pretty much ground zero for this storm on Long Island. The two main roads that meet at our hotel are closed for the day as they use forklifts to removed the abandoned cars and attempt to plow the roads. So instead, we went to the home church which is actually more "local" for us. For the rest of the congregation, we encouraged them to do their own church service at home.

    #1- No way.

#2- Depends on how else the church functions and who controls the money.

It seems to me some of these birds are getting rich by controlling the money in all these so-called churches.

I attend a multi-campus church.....which "my church" is a strategic partner, one of approximately 30. To my knowledge, we strategic partnerships are completely financially independent, aside from materials that members individually and personally choose to purchase in our resource venue. We are a partner of North Point Ministries of Atlanta Georgia. We are not dictated to in any way by NP, but rather we willing use their church model and statements.

The church my wife and I used to attend had one "main" church and (now has) 12 "neighborhood" campuses spread throughout the Chicagoland area. Each church has its own pastor, but the same sermon is preached at all locations. It was kind of interesting when I would download the sermon from differing locations jut to see how the delivery varied from pastor to pastor.

We now attend a church with just two locations, the main church and a satellite location. For a while, the second location had its own pastor, but he recently left for a church in another state, so they have been getting the sermon "beamed" to them from the main location, at least until a new pastor is named. They do, however, do their own praise & worship and announcements and such.

From what I have seen around here I really don't consider them home Churches. They have a stage and stadium seating. No alter and if you aren't at the main campus you watch a huge LCD screen that raises up. They have so many campuses I think the Pastor has become full of his self. He is young and the churches took off. He has two bodyguards that carry his bible and escort him to his office.
