I'm too embarrassed to admit the music I like. If the thread title had a less drastic title like :"Music that you are almost embarrassed to admit you like." I'd almost be able to admit the music I liked.

[Please forgive me.I'm being difficult;I know.Maybe I'll come up with something later on, after some posters embarrass themselves.]

I think a mod will have to move this thread to General Baptist Discussions or All Other Discussions.Your OP doesn't qualify as being in the Music Ministry category.

I'm not ashamed of any music I like. I enjoy gospel and particularly southern gospel above all other music. I also enjoy waltz music, polkas, Irish music, and non-gospel music from 1950's and earlier. I absolutely loath rap or rock.

I have the Best of the Carpenters on CD. I listened to them on record and 8track when I was a kid. I'm not embarassed of that one.

The Barney fife one was funny "'Nita, Wanita..."

I like to listen to some of John Denver's music, and sometimes Neil Diamond. I don't own any of their music, though, just listen on the radio once in a while.

But in WV, don't let the good ole redneck boys catch you listening to Kenny G on a hunting trip....

That's all I am going to say about that!:tongue3:

    Question:

Someone once told me that John Denver and Bob Denver (Maynard G. Crebbs[sp?] on "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" & Gilligan on "Gilligan's Island") were related.

    Anyone know if that's true??

I don't think they are related--John Denver's real name is Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. Unless, of course, Bob Denver's real last name is Deutschendorf, as well.

I like ABBA. Still have the old 8 track tape from the 1970's. Nothing to play it on, tho, so I don't know why I keep it. I think me and Scarlett O. are the last 2 Abba fans alive. LOL I listen to the Carpenter's and John Denver, too.

Hey, I happen to like ABBA, the Carpenters and John Denver too. I would love to get a recording of Denver's last song about Alaska. Apparently there is some legal hangup that prevents it from being recorded. He sang it in the last movie he made about Alaska. Sad ending to a life.

Karen Carpenter was the first choice to sing in Lloyd-Webber's musical about Argentina..A masterful presentation of Don't Cry for Me Argentina. She said to Dionne Warwick in January. 1983..."I have a lot of living to do." Two weeks later the world lost another great voice,,,she died.

I must confess that I am addicted to Broadway music and have seen no less than 14 live performances of The Phantom of the Opera, including the very first one in London, England.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Nobody has mentioned the music I like. Maybe they are afraid to post it. Thing is, I'm not embarrassed.

I like the Rolling Stones, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and some of the edgier music (but not the hardcore stuff). A lot of Christians don't like this music, but maybe I do because I became a believer so late in life. Or maybe it's just me.

I also like jazz and classical - but what's embarrassing about that?

Now that might be embarrassing!
