Question: Is it true that there are some Christians who are against peace in Israel because of a pre-mill theology? Yes.

Next question: Does this represent all Christian thought? No.

You are correct about one thing. Your knowledge of Islam and Arabs is very limited to what you see on the news and the few that you have met. I have met Muslims who love America. I have watched for the past year or two, many Muslims thanking America for what they are doing in Iraq, and even taking up arms to help fight the terrorists themselves. They have also gone to the polls by the millions 3 times this year to vote for the democracy that America is fighting to help set up. I have, through some research, found some Muslims who condemn terrorism and even support Israel. These are the Muslims who believe in peace. They are the same Muslims who believe it can happen by a rate of 62%. I disagree with their religion, because like all non-Christian religions, they reject Christ as their savior. But, I support the reformation in their religion which supports a less extremist POV and embraces pluralism and Western style Democracy. That is moderate Islam.

WHYME, don't let the straw men arguements discourage you - if you want to know the truth, look around the board. Some of us post many examples from the history of islam (crusades, etc. on history forum) to current news & political items. Some people choose not to see the truth. If you want to know the truth, you'll find it.

My understanding from reading and discussing the topic with Arab Muslim friends is that they believe it is a Muslim's duty to regain any land that was ever Muslim. So that would put Israel and Spain, just to name a few into their sights. I was told by several well educated Muslims, that under the religious law, they will not force someone to become a Muslim, but they will treat them differently. For example, they will charge higher taxes of non-muslims and Muslims have certain advantages over non-Muslims in a court battle. But my friend did not equivocate in this: They said in a country in which the religious law is in effect, anyone who is Muslim by birth or conversion, who then converts to something else is subject to the death penalty.

Although I think that an anti-American view exist in the minds of most Middle Eastern Muslims because of our support of Israel, And I believe that the Majority want Israel to cease to exist if possible, their is some plurality in Islam, just as their is in every religion.

 

I don't think premillenial rapturists want anything but peace in the middle east, but we recognize that it isn't going to happen. Just look at your history Joseph. There is yet more hatred for Israel now than ever before, and it can't be contained, as witnessed by recent revelations.

 

I for one do not want the Lord to come until the very last soul is saved, and of course He won't, and for me to persue a course designed to hasten His return would be very wrong.

I simply acknowlege the fact that we are in the last days and that basically the whole world hates Israel and will soon begin focusing a stratagy bent on her destruction. I too desire lasting peace in the middle east but know it isn't possible till after the rapture and tribulation, when the Lord Jesus Christ, Israels long promised Messiah, returns in His Kingdom.

 

Islam may be on the verge of conquering Europe by infilteration what they could not do militarily! Who is next.
