I bought it a year or two ago at Wal-Mart snd have ground lots of different stuff in it, but never coffee.

A couple years back, I grew lots of cayenne peppers and made some pretty decent hot sauce from a recipe that I found online, but with many of the peppers, I hung them in the window sill to dry out. Once they were crackly dry, I chopped them up, put them in the coffee grinder and made my own "cayenne pepper."

About every morning, I grind peppercorns, then chia seeds (or maybe flax seeds) along with turmeric. After mixing it with really cold water, I gulp it all down. That nasty concoction keeps me satisfied just about until suppertime. The peppercorns along with turmeric are good for alzheimer's prevention (as per some experts). The seeds are also high in omega 3 and phytonutrients (whatever that is).

Sometimes for supper, I will have a baked potato with "Smart Balance" and ground flax seeds on it. The flax seeds make it more filling. Ground flax seeds can be added to soup to make it thicker.

Something else about ground chia seeds - the make a good egg substitute in some recipes which call for egg. I like to grind 3 tablespoons of chia seed and add it to corn bread batter, leaving out the egg of course. The mix will require extra liquid ingridient. The corn bread will be quite impressive.

Does anyone else do any grinding?
