Joshua, thanks for taking the time to update us. Your family was the last thing on my prayer list last night, and I will continue to pray for you and your family. May God bless you for your continued love for the Lord. You may not know it, buy you have been an encouragement to me, as I see in you how one should respond to such a personal tragedy.

I'm devastated to hear of your loss.

You and your wife will eventually recover from this great loss, and you will one day be able to help others bear this burden. But I doubt that eases your pain and grief now.

    You are not alone.

I'll be praying for you and your wife.

    Joshua,

I am so terribly sorry for you and Kristi! I just found out a few minutes ago. Please know that we are praying for you. I cannot say anything that has not already been said. My heart is breaking for you. I leave you with two verses from Isaiah, that I find comforting in my times of need. I hope and pray that you and Kristi will find peace and comfort in the arms of our Lord. Please let me know if there is ANYTHING at all we can do for you!

    Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

    Isaiah 43:2
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

Kristi and I made it to Texas safely, and will be having our graveside service for Michal around 2:00 CST. Any prayers during this time especially are appreciated. Thank you all so much for your continued support and encouragement. Just to let you know, our church where I serve on staff as worship and youth pastor has given us two weeks off, and so after the service today, we'll be going to Seguin, TX to spend some time with my family. I won't be back on the board until the end of July. Love you all, and thank God for you! Thought I'd share my letter with you all... this was written and will be read at the gravesite today.
    Why Michal?
I have often had to defend our choice of name for our baby girl, our firstborn. In the nine months since finding out that she was on her way, many have asked our daughter’s name. We never get asked why we used Lynn as the middle name (she’s named after my mother, Sandra Lynn Wilson Rhodes) but we heard repeatedly, “Why Michal? Aren’t there more suitable names that won’t get her laughed at and ridiculed?” The truth is, these things never occurred to us.
While searching for a Biblical name that hasn’t already been used recently in our family, Michal jumped out as an obvious choice. We chose to go with the meaning of the name, rather than name her after her character in the Bible. Michal was Saul’s daughter and David’s wife, but never really understood much of what her husband was doing for the kingdom. This being the case, her name means “who is like God.”
Michal never knew pain, sorrow, or sin like we do. She flew immediately into the arms of Christ, and for that I rejoice for her! She’s attained the one thing that we strive for more than any other: to look into the face of her Savior. We live in a society that is driven to figure out a purpose for everything. God has an ordained purpose and plan for everyone. One can assume that when this purpose has been achieved, God calls you home. While it may not be understood this side of heaven, I believe Michal achieved some divine objective of God.
Scripture says that “unless we come like one of these (children) we will not see the Kingdom.” I am encouraged that children, especially those in Michal's circumstance, are afforded a special type of grace from the Lord. She is unblemished from this world, and has a perfect body now… praising God around the throne. In many ways, she has lived up to her name. She is very much like Him now, and with Him forever.
We hurt and mourn and grieve… and praise Him, and love Him, and ascribe greatness, power, majesty and honor to Him. We’ll praise God in this storm, and know that He has the power to calm them all, even the ones in our own hearts.

You will surely have my prayer. God is good, even in the midst of the storm, God is good.

Very sorry Josh, praying. I have not seen my daughter for 4 years because of a horrible divorce.

    Bless you brother.

    Prayer

As I sit here at 12:50 am my mind is on you and your wife. This is the day when you had to return home and reality set in that it is "real". This is the time when you need our prayers the most. Your daughter is in the arms of Jesus and at peace. I sometimes get scolded for calling them little angels when I have to take care of the little one's funeral but that is the way I feel. I pray God will put His arms around you and never let you or your wife go. I must go to bed now but my mind and prayers will still be on you. This has touched us all. If ever anything has drawn us together in one it has been the death of your lovely daughter. God Bless

Hi Joshua. I am glad for the way your faith is showing in this hard time.

You're one of the only ones I have heard express my thoughts on this topic in the same manner, that a purpose was achieved, not that a purpose was denied. My third oldest living child was the one I came to that conclusion with, as her life before birth and for the first few years was pretty difficult. There was a strong sense of spirituality to the whole situation. I didn't understand, I wasn't even really a true believer then, but even so I knew before her birth that she was being used of God.

And so it is with your daughter, and when you are called home, heaven will be all the sweeter for this new reward that awaits you...this reuinion with your beautiful child. May this knowledge, grant you and your wife a even greater measure of hope and peace than you have yet felt. :flower:

Kristi and I arrived home today to a lonely puppy and a flood of hospital bills. But God is awesome! My wife is healing physically, and we've both begun the road to our "new normal". Please continue to keep us in prayer. You guys are a wonderful support, and we have felt every prayer. Thanks.
