I would encourge you to find out more

Hypercalvinists do not believe in evangelism. It is a serious error/heresy

Calvinists do believe in evangelism. Yes, we are challenged to "make our calling and election sure", but as Paul says in 1 Cor 15, the true Gospel is centered in the fact that Christ died for sinners and was raised again.

A seminary professor of mine once said that when someone initially understands Calvinism or the Doctrines of Grace, the best thing he can do is shut up for about 6 months. I am quite sure he had me in mind when he said that

BTW, 5 point Calvinist here since January 1987

He told me in our conversation that he believe he was never saved until 2 or 3 months ago. Because he thought that he had made some decision that factored into his belief then he thinks that means he was not saved.

OK maybe it isn't hyper-Calvinism after all since he did seem to think that evangelism is necessary. Just that almost no church is doing it right because they are too tolerant. And any church that is not doing it right is teaching people a false gospel which cannot lead them to salvation.

Thank you, I will have to talk to him more and read more about that.

If he's consistent, that's the response he should have. It probably indicates that truth and continuity are important to him, which is good - even if he's adopted an extreme position

Seeing as how Jesus did not do this nor was it taught anywhere in scripture that it should be preached every week we can know that this is absolute heresy.

This now begins to sound like a cult mentality.

They need to be careful to not dismiss the work of the Lord as being that of Satan

This is a lie straight from hell. We have a choice because God set it up that way. Their heresy stems from a poor view of the soveriegnty of God.

A very polarizing ideology and in fact a very poor argument

    Heresy

I am saddened by such madness and how this is unnecessarily tearing a family a part.

    Charles Spurgeon, "Preach the Gospel":

"Should you step into their chapel you would naturally expect to hear them preaching, either from this, “Not of the will of the flesh, but of the will of God,” or else, “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father.” You know that the moment you step in, you are sure to hear nothing but Election and high Doctrine that day! Such men also err quite as much as others, if they give too great prominence to one Truth to the neglect of the others. Whatever is here to be preached, all in whatever name you please—write it high, write it low—the Bible, the whole Bible and nothing but the Bible, is the standard of the true Christian! Alas, alas, many make an iron ring of their doctrines and he who dares to step beyond that narrow circle is not reckoned orthodox. God bless heretics, then! God send us more of them! Many make theology into a kind of tread wheel consisting of five doctrines which are everlastingly rotated. For they never go on to anything else."

Are they not in a Cult now?

As though I am a Calvinist myself, do also see non Cals as also being just as saved as I am, as those articles of grace are how God saves any sinner, regardless if they ever come to fully embrace and understand them!

How many times did Jesus spend his time even discussing Election itself?
    was it :every time?"
