hi, i'm lindsay, i know i haven't really been on here very much, but i have a question. Where do yall have your devotions, or your quiet time with God, becuase, i want to have deeper devotions, but i'm at a loss of where to go. Here's my problem: I live in a very small ranch house with six members of my family (including me), i share my room with my sister, and every room in the house almost always has someone in it. my dad gets up for work at 5, and everyone is sleeping around 11:30. I'm not supossed to stay up past 10:30ish, so I can't wait till everyone's asleep. My sister usually gets up around 6 to get ready for school, and if I do my devotions in the morning I can't start until I am completely ready for school. I also am not supossed to get up before 5 in the morning. And the house is always busy during the day. I almost always fit them in at nite, but i know that since it's hard to get by myself and alone with God that it is hurting my walk w/ Him, even alittle, so I want to elimate that... Do yall have any tips or suggestions for me? Please post if you do. Thnx

I have often enjoyed doing them outside, on a porch or even going for a walk to pray and read.

Also, could you ask your sister if it would be possible for you have some alone time in your room to do them there? Or could you use your parents room while they are doing something else?

Shower time makes good conversation time w/God.

Kind of tough to read though...better laminate your Bible!

rbell stole my answer, lol. I have had some of my most meaningful times alone with God in the bathtub.

The simplest thing to do would be to memorize a certain scripture and meditate on it through the day, like in the shower, in a car, anytime you can think of where you can concentrate on the scripture..

Here is one to get you started.. it is simple, but is packed full of goodies to meditate on...

(Pro 3:5) Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Try it and see if it helps.

Move to WI. You'll be closer already. [IMG]

I had to ask God to give me a place. It worked, because God wants me to walk with him more thatn I want to walk with him. Outside is good-if you can handle the neighbors (they don't bother me-they're at least as crazy as I am), but inside probably is better, especially in January. [IMG]

Do you have an attic? It's OK if the family knows you are going to your "place."

When I lived at home, I used to divide our time (mine and God's). A few minutes asking for guidance and fellowship is fine to begin the day--you need to start things right. Then, through the day, commune with God. At night, you confess your sin and bring requests--you sleep with a clean consience and wake up eager to resume fellowship. Make sense? [IMG]

I really want to be outside, but I live in Indiana, so from like middle October to middle april sometimes won't work. I guess maybe I could cross that bridge when I get to it... But I want to have a time and place settled now, so it is solid and that can be "..my holdy place, back from my rapid pace, where I seek face to face my God and King..." Thanks, more tips would be great.

I have the same problem. I have found that reading over breakfast, or if there is a break sometime in the afternoon works really well. I'm at college and have 4 roomies, so it's really hard sometimes when we're all trying to get ready. HTH!
