I wanted to post my testimony after I read TisMe's thread. I just felt led to for some reason. I hope this is the right place for it.

Ok, I was born and raised in the backwoods of Mississippi and was ALWAYS in church when I was young. The church was a Methodist church but the Pastor that was there the longest and I remember the most was not particularly a "UMC" Pastor, he merely read the Bible preached what was on his heart.

Well, I was always in church, and always around the same people, and after years of hearing that I could lose my salvation I was utterly confused. So I wasn't really acting like I should about the time I graduated High School, I quickly got married (for ALL the wrong reasons!!!) had my oldest son > lost a good job to a lay off > got forced into a divorce > and spent 5 years as a drunk when I didn't have my son. And I'm sure I was a lousy father when I did have him anyway, after all I thought my life was over. During this time, our long time Pastor at the local UMC left because of pressure from the UMC. So I joined a Church of God with my parents and went there for about 10 years. I went, and was blessed by the messages many times, but never felt a part of the church family. Like I was never good enough for God. I just got a "holier than though" feeling from everyone there.

Well, I eventually met my wife, the love of my life, and she said she didn't agree with the Church of God's beliefs and felt very uncomfortable there since she was from a Baptist church. So we searched out for one and finally found the one that I believe God wanted us at.

I know this isn't a normal "testimony", because I was always in a church, and always taught that I could lose my salvation. It wasn't until I started going to our church and would listen to Dr. Charles Stanley on the radio on my long drive to work that it hit me, the reason that never settled right with me is because it was wrong! Jesus's sacrifice on the cross covered ALL sin! And I have been saved this entire time, now I can't tell you a time and date because I must've asked Jesus into my heart 47 million times over the years, but I know I have a personal relationship with Him and that is all that matters! It isn't remembering a time and date, it isn't simply saying a prayer, it's following God's instruction (BIBLE) and having a personal relationship with HIM!! When I finally realized that, a HUGE burden came off of my shoulders. I feel like I can finally live in the freedom that was given when I became a slave to Christ.

I know this was long winded, I just hope it touches someone else in someway. I was led to post it for some reason...

God bless you for this! God had always been working in your life. Thank you so much for your testimony. Christ died for the ungodly, you know this, He showed you your state, and He saved you.

    Thanks again!
