Segment 2 of the 2005 NASCAR Fantasy season begins with the Coca-Cola 600 on May 29th. Go to http://games.espn.go.com/stockcar/frontpage and sign up to join the competition. Participation is down this year among BBers...probably the reason that I am leading. (I'd like to thank my sponsors and the good Lord for a good safe race...)

How does Fantasy Racing work? Do you pick a driver and hope that he wins?

    It works like this:
All of the drivers who compete are assigned a certain number of points based upon their performance in the first 11 races of the year. The top driver is worth 25.5 points. Second driver worth slightly less, etc. You pick five drivers who are worth a total of 100 points. So, you can't pick the top five drivers because they would be worth over 100. In the upcoming race at Charlotte, your five drivers will score points for you based upon how they finish. After each race, the driver's value changes up or down based upon his finish in the previous race. If his value increases because he finishes well, you keep him at the lower value at which you chose him. If his value decreases because of a bad finish, you can trade him off. YOu have to play a while to get a feel for what can happen and create your own strategy.
