The child in Kings actually died. Lazarus actually died. these NDE's did not die, only came close to death and experienced some sort of vision.

I do not believe they left their bodies, for ... to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

Back in the late 70's and early 80's I worked for one of the largest pest control companies in Asia had a grandmother.

I was branch manager of a branch office in the owner's hometown, and he had a grandmother, now dead (really dead, who died, not once, but thrice).

I knew her personally because she had a room in the office, and one of the reasons the branch existed, was to support her, because the owner loved this old woman so much.
I asked her twice about her experience, and she never told me of any "white light" of "floating out of my body" sort of thing.

She just said that the first time she died, she didn't know she was dead, and that the doctor had pronounced her brain dead, and heart dead, and that her grandson was about to fly in from Manila, a good two hours away by plane, having been notified, and they were just waiting for him to give the go ahead for her embalment and burial.

Then she was awakened by the pig squealing.
The men were preparing to slaughter the pig for the wake, and she raised that pig, and she got up from bed, took her cane from the corner, and started whacking away at the guys holding the pig.
As one would expect, the guests panicked and ran from the scene at seeing the "dead" woman come out of her room in full fury with her cane hurling invectives all the way to the back yard.

The second time was about a year later.
Again, she was pronounced dead. Again, the grandson, and his family, was on his way, again the mourners had gathered. This time they put her out on the living room, on her favorite bed, and were just waiting for the funeral parlor to bring in the casket.

Embalmings in most provinces in my country usually took place at the deceased's home and they have not yet embalmed her.

Now, they had a farm about a mile away in the uplands, and the farm caretaker, a lady, happened to walk by, and noticing the people gathered in the house, asked what was happening, and when told the old lady had died, said this was not possible, because the old lady was with her the whole day yesterday, and again this morning, to see to the farm's state of affairs.

At about this time, a commotion broke out in the house, and some kids and women ran out screaming, and it was because the old lady got up and asked for water and said she had been at the farm and had walked all the way home, and must have fainted because she did not remember coming home.

Now, I don't know what to make of this.
But there were no bright lights, no sweet voice, no peaceful sensations.

Oh, by the way, the third time ?

I am told they waited for rigor mortis to really set in.
Then they embalmed and buried her.

    :wavey: Was I dead??
Two years ago I had a severe heart attack.I was unconscious for 17 days. When I regained consciousnessI was on a ventilator and unable to speak.About two months later I was bluebagged, the sheet had been pulled over my head. As they were taking me down the hall (all this was told to me later)a nurse walked by and said who is it,when told that it was me this nurse supposedly said o no,jumped on me and begin resuscitation at this time I had no heart beat of course but 15 minutes later I would be revived.
My wife who was 125 miles away was called to the hospital and told what had happened. The doctor told her that while it was true that my heart beat had been resuscitated that I would be severely brain damaged because of lack of oxygen during the time my heart stopped beating.
And although I was in the hospital and nursing home a total of eight months today I am completely recovered except for the fact that I lost the front half of both my feet. Many doctor and others who know the facts have questioned me about this.Such as ,what did you see,and I can only tell them the truth as I tell you now, I saw nothing so far as I can remember.
My wife likes to say, well you didn't gain any knowledge but you didn't lose any either!!!

Interesting point to me (regarding those who see heaven in these NDE) is that scritpure records those who saw heaven and it only records them seeing Gods throne or around THAT throne.

Even John in Rev. Records the throne and all that is around it, as well as the New Jerusalem. Paul seeing Heaven was FORBIDDEN to speak of what he saw. But all records regarding those who see heaven biblically see the throne or Him that sat upon the throne and those things around it.

The best book I have read on the subject is To Hell and Back: Life After Death Startling New Evidence by Maurice S. Rawlings. Rawlings became a Christian after he interviewed many after they had those experiences because he finally believed there was a hell.

Wouldn't you think that if these experiences were really related to what we will experience while going through death that the vast majority would be terrifying and traumatic while only a few would be pleasant?

Mat 7:14 Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

I trust the Word of God before I trust the words of man. God's Word says none can leave hell once there.

So many want to say that they have had they had died and gone to hell and came back, but according to the Bible, they are mistaken.

A similar thing happened to my nephew. He was run over by an SUV in the parking lot following a Washington Redskins game. The driver fled and my nephew's friend chased him on foot. The vehicle's wheels ran right across my nephew's chest and stopped his heart and breathing. A doctor saw the accident and immediately started trying to save his life. He could not resuscitate him and pronounced him dead. Then the EMS arrived and was able to resuscitate him using electric shock. He was "dead" for somewhere between 10-15 minutes. He says that he did not see or experience anything that he can remember while he was "dead." Meanwhile, the police had caught the driver of the SUV and had initially charged him with vehicular man-slaughter because they had been told my nephew was dead.
