    Hello Everyone,
I've been out of the loop for a while due to some issues, but am trying to get back into a normal routine.

I need your help, if you would.

I'm in a study group that is book based. The book title? Captivating (Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman's Soul)

After the first chapter, I realized this book was not based on biblical truth. I've been asked to come up with an overview..(not an emotional response) about my findings of this book.
I cannot seem to get past being emotional over what I've read.

I have stopped reading the book because it infuriates me to no end, but I did commit to the overview..I WANT to share the truth about this book of lies and twisted truths.

    Has anyone read Captivating?

How would YOU present an overview,so that others (new believers as well as those who may not be well grounded in God's word)can see the lies this book is trying to share.

I become emotional and angry at the lies and my response is to SCREAM then yell so everyone can hear that this is not teaching us anything that is pleasing to God....

but anger and emotion aren't what's needed here nor will it help get the truth about this book across.

    Can you help me?

There are some really good books about there for Christian women seeking a deeper intimacy with God and a greater understanding of their roles in and outside the four walls of the home. Consider these:

"The Excellent Wife: A Biblical Perspective" by Martha Peace

"A Woman Seeking God" by Dorothy Patterson (wife of Paige Patterson)

"A Woman's High Calling: 10 Essentials for Godly Living" by Elizabeth George

"A Woman After God's Own Heart" by Elizabeth George

For the minister's wife, I would also like to recommend a small yet powerful book "A Handbook for Minister's Wives" by Dorothy Patterson

The women who authored these books are not concerned about trying to feed on what are often the fragile emotions of women seeking answers. Yet, they are concerned with presenting women with biblical truth in the hope that God will transform their lives through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Away with mind candy such as "Wild at Heart" and "Captivating" - let us return to an excavation of truth that is grounded in the Word of God!

    Wow more input! Thanks, Marcia.
I have a feeling my attendance will not be in good standing once I share the true about the book. I think the tar and feather look might ADD to my appearance. I'd much rather tar and feathers than twisted truths and outright lies.

    Hi Sue,
I just had some SERIOUS septic problems that HAD to be addressed and took MONTHS to get fixed..Sorry. I should have said something to someone instead of falling off the edge of the planet..but now I can FLUSH!
And it only took 8 months..
