I have a Toshiba laptop that is approx 10 years old that will now not let me connect to my wi-fi.

I keep getting a message that says "turn on hardware radio".

I have gone through so much stuff and followed so many suggestions (from the computer itself) and eventually it always ends up telling me to turn on the "hardware radio".

I have yet to figure how to do this, as this message is the only reference I can find to "hardware radio"

Before I got my iPad, approx 2.5 years ago, the laptop worked fine, so I have no earthly idea what to do next.

    Any & all help appreciated.

Don't know what version of Windows you are using (XP?) but get into the Control Center, then click on Device Manager. Then find network adapters and click on that. You should now see a wireless ethernet adapter listed. Right click on it and then click Uninstall.

Reboot your laptop. Windows will now automatically reinstall that network adapter. It's worth a try.

On many laptops there is a function key that turns it on and off. Look for an antenna icon or check your book.

That old, it could be that something is loose or gone bad. If the above or one of the other posts do not cure it you might remove the bottom cover -- unplug and remove the battery -- and see if you see anything loose. You may not be able to see it - it is usually a little board that plugs into the main board and it has a small wire that plugs into it - this is the antenna.

If nothing else works post the model number and I can see if I can find any information on it..
