Aren't we told somewhere in the Bible that we will receive new bodies when we reach heaven?

The reason why I ask is because a dear friend of mine has been in a wheelchair for her entire life, and as I was going through a coloring book of mine, I found the perfect picture for her! It's an angel next to a wheelchair with an ad that says: 'Wheelchair for Sale'.

    So....can anyone help me out?

    Does this help?

    1 Corinthians 15
35 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?
36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:
37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:
38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.
39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.
40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
47 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.
48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

Php 3:20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

    Those are both good passages...

I'm not sure why they're not clicking with the picture though... I suppose maybe there's another verse somewhere that will work better.

If nothing else, I will use those, and thank you very much for your hard work in finding those for me! I really do appreciate it!

    God's blessings,

I remembered this verse first off. It was a favorite verse of a recently departed sister in Christ with weak jointed knees.

“All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness. Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble, and make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed.” Hebrews 12:11-13 NAS

These verses may fit your needs better though.

“Encourage the exhausted, and strengthen the feeble.
Say to those with anxious heart,
    “Take courage, fear not.
    Behold, your God will come with vengeance;
The recompense of God will come,
    But He will save you.”
Then the eyes of the blind will be opened
And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.
Then the lame will leap like a deer,
And the tongue of the mute will shout for joy.
For waters will break forth in the wilderness
    And streams in the Arabah.
The scorched land will become a pool
    And the thirsty ground springs of water;
In the haunt of jackals, its resting place,
    Grass becomes reeds and rushes.
A highway will be there, a roadway,
And it will be called the Highway of Holiness.
The unclean will not travel on it,
But it will be for him who walks that way,
And fools will not wander on it.
    No lion will be there,
    Nor will any vicious beast go up on it;
These will not be found there.
But the redeemed will walk there,
And the ransomed of the LORD will return
And come with joyful shouting to Zion,
With everlasting joy upon their heads.
They will find gladness and joy,
And sorrow and sighing will flee away.”
    Isaiah 35:3-10

AMEN Deacon. And all the passages shared by Dina and RomansOne!

As my body degenerates, I find great solace in looking to the kingdom of our Lord that is soon coming! And singing with Handel's Messiah:
That is BOB he's talking about! :D

    We shall be like him.

I tend to think also that it is beyond my imagination, as imaginative as I can be.
