It might seem like a silly question but I'm confused over these terms. What is the differences in theology of a traditional evangelical as opposed to a new evangelical.
Also, to help me to understand, which well known preachers are new and which are traditional. Thanks for any help.

Nothing now. Historically, prior to the early 40s, the evangelicals were the fundamentalists. The term "new evangelical" was coined by the new evangelicals to distinguish themselves from the traditional evangelicals, the fundamentalists.

The doctrine of evangelicals and fundamentalists is largely the same. The difference is in their commitment to separation.

So Billy Graham would be considered an evangelical whereas John MacArthur would be considered a Fundamentalist?
