    Mozier,

You seem to be on top of the situation about Jack Chick. Do you have an order form on your writing desk? Apparenly, you don't miss a new revelation of his booklets.

    Hi, Ray!

I am a real "fan" of Jack Chick. By fan, I mean I greatly admire the pure camp of the man.

On one hand, I do recognize that he has done much in the spread of the gospel, including helping me find Christ and leave the Roman Catholic Institution.

On the other hand, he is so "over the top" that he can just make you howl in either derision and/or hilarity.

Overall, I think that Jack Chick is an absolutely brilliant, and misunderstood, genius.

There is a website, Ray, that may interest you (and others, too):

    http://members.aol.com/monsterwax/chick.html

This is a "fan" site for Jack's work. It is my favorite website (next to Baptist Board, of course!). The site is neither pro or anti Jack, but rather is filled with people who love the pure campiness that is Jack Chick. It even includes many Catholics who love his work, too! Enjoy.

Went to the site and saw no evidence of any Catholic fans.

Could you direct me to some specific example of it?

BTW, does your admiration of Chick have any negative impact on your relationship with your wife? Or is she a fan too?

    Hi, trying2understand!

Yes, here is a quote from the website:

Great cite! I'm a Catholic and I love Chick Tracts, just because they are so stupid. Haw Haw! What is Karl Keating so bent out of shape about? Last Rites is laughable and about as persuasive as Clinton's "I didn't inhale". The way I see it, if Jack's against my religion, I must be doing something right! Keep up the good work.

    -Nmag 12/22/00

This is from the memories section, and there are others. Check them out! You have to dig deeper than just reading the opening sections, though.

As well, the guy who runs the site has stated that he does here regularly from Catholics. Most are grossly offended, and some even confuse his site with Chick's. However, there are those who can appreciate the camp that is Chick and leave it at that. Otherwise, you just might be a secret Jesuit who is trying to thwart the gospel message!

As the typical Jack Chick comic character says, HAW HAW HAW! [IMG]

I sure didn't see any signs of Catholic fans, either, except for a line saying "we have Catholic fans". All the letters in the "Catholic Corner" seemed offended by the gross anti-Catholic sentiment displayed there.

I'd say that you exagerated about the supposed Catholic fans.

Is your wife a fan too?

    trying2understand,

hey, you only asked for an "example," not examples.

As for my wife, she never reads them, nor do I think she has ever even heard of our man Jack. So I would say she is not a fan.

trying2understand, I know how much you like to dig me about my past spiritual struggles with Catholicism, but this is one I am not going to go further with you on.

I was just curious as to how your fascination with Jack Chick effects your walk with God in your day to day life.

I suspected that your wife is not a fan of his.

I know that there are some things that would only offend my wife and expressing an interest in them would only hurt (not help) our relationship.

Rather than keeping a secret from her, I choose not to persue things that she would disapprove of.

That seems to me to be the proper response of a Christian husband.

But hey, that's just me. [IMG]

Nothing is wrong with the new tract & hopefully some people will come to know the Giver of Life through it instead of the lie from Satan they have been deceived by.

Any booklet Jack Chick puts out is tripe.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig.

    You're out of line. Period.

There's a lot wrong with the so-called tract. First, we're to believe that this young fellow is trained to blow up other folks because of his religious beliefs.

Well, that's not what's happening. The most outstanding example of this is among the Palestineans, whose leader is really a secularist who only uses Islam as a political tool. The people blowing themselves up aren't doing so for primarily religious reasons, but for political ones.

There are (or were) Baptist missionaries from our city in the West Bank, and they were not molested until political — not religious — events overcame them.

Not to mention the Palestinean Christians, who are caught between the political millstones and try to maintain their faith.

How dare you! That stupid excuse for a comment is not even worth responding to.

Mozier -- that was "excellent"! Thanks for sharing.

Christ said to the Magesterium of the One TRue Church of God started at Sinai --- "You make disciples and make them twice a son of the devil as yourself" - quote a "Jack Chick" Moment wouldn't you say?

And to read that you read those tracts and then left the dark ages for the light???!!! Now that IS good news.

    Welcome home Mozier!!

    In Christ,

    Bob

Dear confused and disoriented--- The quote from the Q'uran is quite correct. They ARE commanded to kill non-Muslims but most don't do it since "self-preservation" is a "stronger" incentive.

But given an ounce of disgruntlment and they go at it tooth and nail using the Q'uran as their fight song. Notice that no matter how many 100's of thousands of dead Muslims they dig up in the sands of Iraq - slain by the godless Sadam - HE can claim war using the Q'uran and even outside terrorists will flood into the country with the Q'uran strapped to their hides hoping to blow themselves up or at least get a shot at some children in a day care.

The point is - the "religion" angle is played easily BECAUSE of the way the children are raised. See the schools EVEN in Saudi Arabia - teaching hate and death to Americans. THe "amazing" part is that we don't see "more of it". And the only reason we don't see more - is the supernatural elements foretold in Rev 7 and 2Thess 2.

    In Christ,

    Bob

We don't need yet another thread discussing Islam. There are more than I feel like reading, and the fruit they produce is next to none. There are two reasons for this:

First, when a member posts info that appears to be in defense of Islam, then that person is branded as a "Muslim-lover". That air also makes it difficult to post accurate criticisms of the religion without being called a "backpeddler".

Second, when a member posts info that is inaccurate, but criticizes Islam, people will usually jump on the bandwagon to the point that it becomes difficult to correct the info, or, for that matter, even discuss the need to correct the info.

So let's stick to the subject at hand, which is the nature of Jack Chick booklets.
