Please take a few seconds to read this article:

A memo was sent via company e-mail to about 1,000 people at an Eastman Kodak Co. division at the company's headquarters in Rochester, New York, about the company's annual gay/lesbian 'Coming Out Day' listing specific steps people should do to help gays/lesbians feel comfortable in sharing their sexual orientation in the workplace:

A 22-year veteran of the company wrote back the following email:

Not long after, another e-mail came to all of the workers, from the division manager.

Rolf Szabo, of course, was fired!

Sorry, but conversations about sex or sexual orientation has no place in the workplace. A gay man has no right to stand up and say "I'm Gay" just as a single straight woman shouldn't stand up and say "I'm available for a Date". What does sexual desires have to do with work?

    Give me a break.

If the above article turns out to be true, I will never buy another Kodak product in my entire life!

I just think the whole thing is laughable.

There's no need to have an employee coming out day, and the guy who responded to the entire e-mail list should have thought before hitting "reply all." "Reply all" almost always leads to trouble.

I don't understand the grounds for terminating employment, though.

Would you laugh if you lost your job? I don't think so.

The reason Rolf got fired had nothing to do with his "reply to all" email.

Please forward this to all your friends and family (you could use the "Email this page" link on the top left).

I agree Webmaster, I normally buy other brands of film because of price but now I will make certain to avoid their products.

"Though Szabo had been with the company 23 years, it doesn't appear as though they're going to take him back, either. Kodak has every right to fire an employee who doesn't fit with its corporate culture. But wouldn't the company's "diversity group" be truer to its name if it learned to tolerate differences of opinion?"

So, This action will undoubtedly put my mother in law out of a job. She's worked for this company forever, and is just 3 years short of retirement. Do you really think boycotting will get the message to Kodak? It's the people who get a paycheck who will suffer. :(

It's probbaly doing her a favor. I'd sure quit if my company started cramming all that pro-sodomy, AIDS spreading, homosexual propoganda down my throat.

Isn't the point of the suggested boycot to hurt the Owner, not the people who have bills to pay..."Doing her a favor"?!... I don't appreciate that sentiment at all. It seems very callous.

I'm 26 years old and I've only spent 4 years in corporate america but thats more than enough time to tell anyone how rediculous corporate culture is.

I think maybe a petition is in order asking Kodak to appologize to Rolf for not respecting the diverse views of the man they fired. Please copy and paste the verbage below into an email and send it to your friends.

    -----------

Kodak Petition - Please read and forward to your friends. Then goto
    http://www.kodak.com/cgi-bin/contact.cgi
and send them the following message:

    Dear Kodak,

The day you decided to fire Rolf Szabo was not a very pretty "Kodak Moment". News of this event is fast spreading all over the internet. It appears that while catering to a small minority of people and defending thier "diverse lifestyle" you forgot to respect the opinion and lifestyle of one your longtime veterans. Firing Rolf Szabo was the epitome of hypocrisy. You've dressed up Intolerance as tolerance, and bigotry as diversity. Why did you not respect his right to "come out" with his opinion?
Please realize that your view is not the only one that counts and please discontinue using your power as an employer to punish those whose views vary from your own. I hope that eventually you'll realize that the climate of conformity you promote does nothing to benefit your company, but it does serve to offend a great deal of your customers. I hereby petition you to appologize to Rolf for insulting him in such a disgusting and offensive manner. Thank you and have a nice day.

    Sincerely,
