The video, showing in the Lincoln Legacy Room at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. is an outrage. Shamelessly slanted, it is a disgraceful revision of history.

"Peddling pure propaganda, the video features an actor impersonating Lincoln's voice over visuals of protest marches showing such signs and banners as 'The Lord is my Shepherd and Knows I am Gay,' 'Gay & Lesbian Sexual Rights' and 'Council of Churches Lesbian Rights,'""National Organization for Women," "Reagan's Wrongs Equal Women's Rights," "ERA Yes," "Ratify the ERA," "I Had An Illegal Abortion In 1967 - Never Again," "Keep Abortion Legal" and "I Am Pro-Choice America."

Americans are being seduced by their own government into believing that fighting for homosexual sodomy is the same as marching through Selma.

Please sign the petition to the National Park Service to end the showing of this offensive video.

The oppression of people because of their ancestor's slavery, their sex, or their sexual orientation is biblically defensible. Fighiting that oppression is our responsibility as Christians, and all such fights are on equal footing.

Joshua, it amuses me how the GLBT community considers heterosexuality oppressive. Even if it wasn't spoken against biblically people would and do realize it's not normal or right.

    Josh,
This world is need of plenty of Christ-like heroes, but being the defender of the a sinful GLBT lifestyle would be super low on my list of priorities even if I did believe such a lifestyle was ok. Have you ever considered a more realistic life's mission? Perhaps feeding children who are starving to death in 3rd world nations or supporting missions. For all I know you could already be undertaking such noble tasks, but I get the idea that you're fixated to an unhealthy extent on GLBT.

Actually, supporting local and cooperative mission projects is a big part of my calling, and the homosexuality thing only seems to come up on this board (because it seems to be a very important topic here). Outside of the board, I'm willing to bet I sometimes go months without the topic of the sinfulness of homosexuality coming up.

    Exactly,
The way God designed the male and female bodies proves this. Homosexuality is totally unnatural. A planet of one million lesbians would die off completely in one generation.

I'm just not sure how anyone could be advocate to homosexuality. Besides the Bible being against it, it's just plain sickning!!
and the first post, the one with the article, saying "Pro-choice" well that just makes my blood boil! It's beyond me how anyone could be for murder. I don't care what anyone thinks, abortion is wrong!
And so does that "Reagan's Wrongs Equal Women's Rights" stuff, yuck. I'm female and I still think women ought to just do what the Bible says, and submitt to there husbands. There are also somethings women just shouldn't do. Equal rights? I don't think it's right to treat women cruely, or degrade them, or make them cover themselves head to toe like the Muslims {although some modesty could help some of the ladies I've seen   } but like I said, there are just some things women shouldn't do.
Sorry if I'm coming of as uppity, I'm honestly not trying to, but there are some things that I just won't hold to, and by God's grace, I'll stay that way.

Does anybody know the name of this video? Who produced it? Who authorizes it to be shown? Has anyone here seen it? Who exactly is it shown to? What is it advertised as?

Well, Joshua, it must be the company you keep because it sure comes up in my Baptist church!

I also had trouble with the page and wrote them about it.

I find it odd that so many people are willing to sign a petition about something they've never seen to judge the context.

RSR... I've never seen porno shows or live sex acts on stage but I protest those. I've never had an abortion but I protest that!

I trust Phil Sheldon, Concerned Women of America, Conservative News Service and Rightgrll to check this stuff out and keep me informed!!

National Park Service Now Reviewing Controversial Lincoln Video
    By Marc Morano
    CNSNews.com Senior Staff Writer
    February 06, 2003

(CNSNews.com) - The chief spokesman for the National Park Service Thursday announced that the agency had officially begun reviewing a controversial video that tourists have been viewing at the Lincoln Memorial for the last seven years - a video that implies Abraham Lincoln would have supported liberal causes like homosexual and abortion "rights."

"The issue has been raised to the Department of the Interior and the Park Service management, and so we have asked our cultural resource staff to review the film to see if it's appropriate in the context of interpretation...at the Lincoln Memorial," David Barna, chief of public affairs for the National Park Service, told CNSNews.com. The National Park Service is an agency of the Interior Department.

Barna's reaction followed a Feb. 3 CNSNews.com report describing the contents of the video. National Park Service Director Fran Mainella and several employees watched the Lincoln tape this week after hearing of the CNSNews.com report.

"There have been people here that have watched [the video] that said, 'Gee, using [Lincoln's] second inaugural as a text to highlight these modern-day protests is inappropriate,'" Barna said.

"So we had a nice airing of it with our director (Fran Mainella), and she got the whole raft of opinions and said, 'You know, we better look at this and make sure we know what we are doing,'" Barna explained.

"We do need to be absolutely sure we are telling both sides of the story," he added.

According to Barna, the video has been showing for about seven years at the Memorial, and he has not been aware of any previous complaints.

Barna said he first become aware of the controversy surrounding the video this week because of the "hate mail" he received.

U.S. Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R-Kan.), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, announced Wednesday that he has "contacted [Bush] administration officials" and might possibly begin "exploring legislative options" regarding the Lincoln video.

The video features an actor impersonating Lincoln's voice over visuals of protest marches. Some of the visuals include signs and banners reading "The Lord is my Shepherd and Knows I am Gay," "Gay & Lesbian Sexual Rights," "Council of Churches Lesbian Rights," "National Organization for Women," "Reagan's Wrongs Equal Women's Rights," "ERA Yes," "Ratify the ERA," "I Had An Illegal Abortion In 1967 - Never Again," "Keep Abortion Legal," "I Am Pro-Choice America,"

Paul Meisius, a tourist from Sheboygan, Wis., who viewed the video during his visit to the memorial, called it "awful" and said the "political correctness of it is beyond words."

Bill Line, a National Park Service spokesman, previously told CNSNews.com he was "reluctant" to comment on the Lincoln video because the whole issue had the "potential to be quite controversial."

    Joshua,

Would you define "Oppression" for me? Especially as it relates to homosexuality?

I want to see what a fellow Berry graduate has to say about such an issue.

dianetavegia, thanks for posting this. Don't let some of these people get you discouraged. Liberals are always going to be opposed to anything and anyone who tries to defeat their humanistic agenda. I trust Phil Sheldon and the others you mentioned too, comprised of a lot of Godly men & woman who are disgusted to see the way this country and society are becoming increasingly wicked.

We are to occupy until He comes, then the ungodly can have it all. Keep up the good work, Woman! [IMG]

I simply asked for confirmation of something that was in question. I have no knowledge of these people or the video.
